Modern Warfare 2 Map Pack Features 2 Rehashes And A Stupid Price Smoking
   March 15th, 2010 clock image 9:30 am

COD4Stimulus.jpg

Most of you know that I’m not the biggest fan of Modern Warfare 2′s multiplayer anymore, thanks mostly to the constant barrage of glitches, hacks and all around cheap tactics being used all day, everyday.

Details on the exciting new Stimulus map pack have finally been released and I honestly can’t say that it has done anything to make me want to pick the game up and play it again, thanks mostly to a couple of details.

Hit the jump for all the info.

The map pack will consist of 5 new levels, with only 3 of them new while and the next 2 are maps from COD4: MW that everyone has only already played a gajillion times already.

Here’s the full list:

New Maps

  • Bailout – A multi-level apartment complex
  • Storm – an open industrial park littered with heavy machinery
  • Salvage – A snowy junkyard fortified by stacked debris and crushed cars

Old Maps

  • Crash – War-torn urban environment
  • Overgrown – A massive dry creek bed

So what can you expect to pay for three new maps and two old ones? The map pack released for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was priced at 800 MS points, but because this is Modern Warfare 2, the biggest selling game of like, ever, Activision has seen fit to charge us a ridiculous amount of 1200 MS points on XBL or around R150 on PSN.

The download will be 329MB and If you love Modern Warfare 2 with all your heart, and really want new (and old) maps to play on, then by all means, go out and get it when it releases on March 30th.

I personally have much better things to spend my money on if I must be perfectly honest, so this map pack isn’t getting any of my dough, especially not with that price tag.

God of War III Street Date Broken Over The Weekend

  • Shodan

    I am done with MW2…

  • Cleric

Sold my MW2 this weekend, for the sole fact they they’re gonna split the community with these overpriced map-packs.

  • uberutang

    Also sold my copy.
    Worst hyped game ever.

  • Uncle

I am so happy I boycotted

    • http://www.lazygamer.co.za LazySAGamer

Honestly playing MW2 was one of the best gaming experiences I have had.. so boycotting isn’t recommended.

But for 3 new maps I don’t think I am going to fork out 1200 points

Paid R150 this weekend for Mass Effect 1 + Bonus disc at Game

  • darthdad

I wonder how much the DLC for BFBC2 will cost?

    • NATO

They cost nothing because you don’t actually get any new maps… only game mode changes. Lame! :getlost:

  • Lupus

MW2 was definitely not the same as MW1, even in MP used to see guys playing this like almost everyday, MW2 it has faded from existence, which doesn’t look like such a bad thing.

  • Cleric

Yeah, it was great while it lasted, but that lasting was WAY too short.

  • Worm

Any news for the PC version? Will it be releasing for it and how/will you be paying for it?

  • Cleric

Yeah, it was great while it lasted, but that lasting was WAY too short.

But am I the only one who feels like we waste a lot of time playing Multiplayer when there are so many GREAT single-player experiences out there? I’ve found myself spending less and less time on live and rather playing through the myriad of unfinished Single Player experiences.

    • http://www.designwave.co.za Nick de Bruyne

I know what you mean, I have started trying to put some more time aside to play single player games. It’s where we started and why we grew to love gaming.

While playing multiplayer is fun in its own way, there is a definite different type of satisfaction from finishing a game, and progressing through a story

Guess that selling millions of copies of their overhyped game and breaking a couple records isn’t enough for Activision and Infinity Ward to be happy about all the money WE spent buying their sh*tty glitched out game. Why not charge us more than everybody else for a map pack? And why not charge us for maps from their previous game EVERYBODY spend HOURS UPON HOURS playing. I don’t feel like paying for maps that I can still play on Modern Warfare, but thank you very much :getlost:

  • DADDYSBAC

Well how about they throw that they will crash all those hack prastiges and fix it along with the map pack update. :w00t:
