Everybody who actually loves videogames has been hating EA for quite a while now. they’ve scooped up the award for worst company in the US for two years in a row now; they’ve shafted PC gamers with their sports titles; they’ve made Dead Space a mindless action shooter and they completely messed up the launch of Sim City. and perhaps, those transgressions will all be forgiven at E3.
According to a retailer listing, Mirror’s Edge 2 is coming. It briefly popped up on Amazon Germany (via AGB) with a placeholder cover before summarily being removed, sparking rumours that the game might be one of the titles showcased by EA at this year’s E3.
I loved Mirror’s Edge. It was something fresh and exciting at a time when just about everything else was a bland military shooter. Plus, you could play through it without firing a gun, at all. Along with Dead Space, it was one of those franchise that made people fall in love with EA all over again – before they went and squandered away all that positive sentiment by being corporate tools. It wasn’t for everyone though, and for every person who loved it, you’d have another who it made want to vomit – but insanely fast, first-person free running will do that to you.
It would also just be lovely to see the talented folks at DICE do something that wasn’t Battlefield related for a change. However, don’t get your hopes up just yet. In a statement to Gamespot, an EA representative has shot the rumour down, saying:
“We appreciate fan enthusiasm for Mirror’s Edge, especially fans throughout the retail channel. This is not official EA material. We have nothing to announce at this time.”
That said, they could just be trying to keep their E3 plans under wraps.

Played through it first time without firing a weapon, damn hard but epic as hell.
Been thinking of picking up a preplayed copy again, fantastic title.

I loved the first one… I played it to death, over and over again until it became mindless, I knew everything that would happen and where to go all the time, but even then it was awesome lol
I hope EA release a new one, but it can’t be exclusively for the new gen… or I’d never be able to play it 🙁

Loved it, the overall feel of the game was awesome. The bright colors and all, since Mirror’s Edge 1 came out a lot of games tried to follow the same route regarding world and gameplay, though very few had the same feel as Mirror’s Edge

Am I the only one here you weren’t that impressed with Mirror’s Edge?
And before any of you call me a CoD 12 year old, let me explain.
I really loved the free running, building hoping, parkour madness. But I had two problems with the game. The combat sucked big time. And the game was too linear.
Imagine that game in a more open environment where it’s a matter of… Get to point B… GO! We don’t care how.
And man, some better combat mechanics would’ve made the game so much better.

I couldn’t stand it. I think in my case it was that I didn’t play it when it came out, so it wasn’t a “breath of fresh air” for me.

I know. But combat was still in it.
And @umarbastra:disqus How did you get through the game without ANY combat? Not talking about the mandatory boss fight.

Okay wait, I may have mistaken combat with shooting. is shooting in your scope of combat? You can play the entire game without shooting anyone, still have to fight though yes

Combat is anything that you come into conflict with the enemies. A lot of it in the game was Hand-to-Hand or Melee combat. The controls for that was just horrible. The shooting was easier, but I didn’t do it because it interrupted the flow of the game.

Okay , sorry got confused, it wasn’t the best of controls, But I didn’t find it that bad imo. I always managed to flying kick them in the face and worked fine for most parts. it was wonky though, not game breaking

I struggled with it and ruined the experience for me a bit. Was the first game in a long time that I switched to an Easier setting.
Don’t get me wrong, a new Mirror’s Edge might be awesome, because stuff like that is usually improved. But I will need a bit more convincing.
