Just when we had given up all hope that we’d get our hands on a game set in the Metal Gear universe that emphasised action over stealth, along came news and a fantastic new video at the Spike Video Game Awards that not only confirmed that Rising was back from the dead, but was in capable hands as well.
Platinum games, the studio behind such titles as Bayonetta and the upcoming Anarchy Reins have taken over development of the then-cancelled, half finished game from Kojima Productions, and while Bayonetta Director Kamiya isn’t helming this Metal Gear incarnation himself, it still looks like we’ll get to play a game in their inimitable style.
It’s looking slick so far, boasting a glorious and gory 60 frames per second of pure unrelenting swordplay, as well as quite a few over the top moments that have become the signature fashion of Platinum games.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is due for release next year.
