We all knew it was coming, it was just a matter of time until the news broke that Gears of War 3 is in fact in development at illustrious game studios, Epic Games. After the groundbreaking Gears of War series blew our expectations of what a third-person-shooter on the console is all about, it really isn’t much of a surprise that the third instalment is on its way.

As eager as many fans are, they will definitely have to sit tight as GoW 3 is only expected to hit shelves sometime in April of 2011. In true Epic fashion, they are set to whet our appetites with a teaser that is due this April, with more details to follow at this years E3 in June.

Not taking the cross-platform competition lightly, word has it that Killzone 3 is also scheduled for an April 2011 release. We’ll see, if both studios can keep to their deadlines, we should have a very interesting battle on our hands about this time next year.
