It’s very tempting to make the Xbox 360 your lead platform – but don’t Getting There

ps3vsxbox

That is the advice coming out of Austin Texas at the moment where a bunch of the gaming worlds lead developers have congregated to drink, eat and be merry… oh and apparently talk about developing stuff or something.

Generally these conventions don’t make it into the news arena as they are boring but game development company Turbine has broken that mould by slapping up a Powerpoint slide stating that the Xbox 360 is easier to develop on due to the friendlier tools, better performing DVD drive and double the main memory.

It’s also a lot easier to migrate down to the PS3 than up to the Xbox 360.

Okay that last line was just put in to make you click the read more link, what they really said was that migrating from the PS3 to the 360 is easier than the other way around.

The solution to all these problems according to Turbines VP of product development, Craig Alexander, is to lead with the PS3 and port over to the Xbox 360.

Craig was mainly doing a presentation on MMO’s on the console with the belief that the Xbox 360 and PS3 were now powerful enough to support the idea, I personally hope not because I can easily see myself becoming hopelessly addicted to a MMO and the console world is still a safe world for me to live in.

I may just have to become a dedicated Wii owner as according to the presentation the Wii just can’t handle MMO’s at this time.
