But it’s all round and stuff. Most of the new MS redesigns have been very square and straight.

I don’t much care for the going ons of console marketing, but woah. If this is legit in any way then no. They really need to make a change asit looks horrid.

lol, I’m starting to think so as well. This smells metro… windows 8 funk… It’s almost like ever since Steve Jobs died, Microsoft has been making dodgy design decisions And then it hit me, maybe Steve Balmer gave Jobs a proto-type of Kinect, and thus spied on him…. Wouldn’t it be funny if Microsoft went full retard, and followed Nintendo down the path of stupid names (Wii.. Wii-U), and called their new console Xbox-Y. The possibilities for trolling would be endless. “Y U NO HAZ GAMES’ “Y-front stained” “Y U BUY XBOX”.

If this existence had a sense of humour it would let events play out just like that…

But I did read a rumour about Microsoft wanting to go the Nintendo route in making their console iconic with gaming. Almost like how back in the 80s, the phrases “gameboy”, “SNES”, Nintendo were synonymous with gaming, or how Apple’s Ipod personified personal mp3 players, or how “Windows” became iconic with the term OS, or even how Sony’s Walkman was the word for a personal tape player….

So, by just calling it xbox, the hope is that people will call gaming “xbox”. The problem however is that unlike playstation or even Nintendo, the xbox brand doesn’t inspire the same level of confidence. It’s a long shot for Microsoft, and it will be funny if they just call it “Xbox”. Considering that the xbox is steamrolling ahead on always-online DRM, and restrictive account DRM, then I can only hope the brand dies in a fire of consumer anger.

So instead of “gaming”… Failure might become synonymous with Xbox!

But then… gamers are notoriously stupid. The epitome of sheep, and they might just latch onto it, like the underdeveloped, mental-delinquents that they are.

Incidentally, those that disagree, are merely proving my point about how gamers are inherently stupid.

I like it…. and it’s probably legit. fits in with the new CI for Windows and with everything becoming more integrated it would make a lot of sense.

It also opens up the doors for future iterations without the need of numbering it. As with everything though rebranding costs money and time so I hope it’s the right move

Speaking from a graphic designers point, this well could be the new logo, hopefully not but possible.

Simple logos are the new craze, simply because if made into metal eg the console itself is easier and cheaper. The logo could work with alot of altering but still pretty shitty lol
