GTA V is being released in just over a month’s time and while most gamers are well aware that the game will be landing on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 it seems that Rockstar and Sony have joined up to make the PlayStation 3 the preferred platform.
A new advert has gone up in New York City for the game which is missing a certain platform.
What’s really telling here is not only is the Xbox 360 name missing entirely but that there is more than enough space to have included it so it’s an obvious exclusion.
This sort of advertising in gaming is not new with Microsoft sealing the Call of Duty lead platform and advertised platform quite some years ago but I think this is the first one that Sony has sealed; correct me if I’m wrong. It also explains why all the demonstration videos have been using PlayStation 3’s so don’t expect that to change either.

Why? Probably just a marketing ploy.
How many games looked significantly worse on one platform? for one game I saw comparisons, Xbox better at this , PS better at that. Bah humbug, I tell you, bah humbug

I agree!! I own the PS3 and the Xbox 360 and have played some games on both consoles… Like Red Dead Redemption, the graphics on the PS3 is a little better but the horse can’t turn for shit on the PS3!! It’s like the controller doesn’t recognize when I turn the stick!!! But overall they look pretty much the same!!

It’s just marketing. So it should work just fine on the xbox. Unless R* goes all Bethesda and sells a broken game on the box.

Actually no, I know exactly where this is, behind is the roof of those shops, and old apartment building and some offices. What you also don’t see is there’s more than one tree in the way. You can’t see a thing on the other side. ROFL

While… GTA4 was better on PS3 in some areas and better on the 360 in others. Red Dead Redemption narrowed the difference with the PS3 having better textures and the 360 having better frame rates, draw distance and less texture pop ins. Max Payne 3 was almost identical on both, with the PS3 having higher textures on some objects, and the 360 not prone to the frame rate drops the PS3 was. Every Rockstar game has slowly brought the 2 versions closer and closer. I’m expecting them to be pretty even in GTA5, and if there is a difference, once again I expect the PS3 to have slightly higher textures, but still prone to frame rate drops and a lower draw distance.

I hope the game is great on xbox 360 and ps3, everyone deserves a great experienece with GTA5. i mean basically one of the biggest if not thee biggest game on the current gen consoles. So they prob pushing the tech pretty hard, but sad to say id think ps3 could perhaps be better I mean games have more space than they do on the 360

But the ps3 players should get a better experience as they are obviously vastly more intelligent and classy than the eggs-bawks players.

Iv’e said this so many times and i’ll say it again. Sony used the ps3 to win the HD war, and you can now clearly see them focusing on their roots……gaming.

They said themselves that they were developing the game the same exact way for both platforms to give players the same experience. Playstation probably just got to Rockstar first like Microsoft did with Gta 4.

They’ve always preferred Sony consoles they’ve got a little partnership going like with the bundles but I’m sure the 360 version will be just as good

Always preferred Sony’s consoles? GTA4 and its advertising would say differently. They also partnered with MS for the 2 expansions.

We all already know that the PS3 is the lead platform, Rockstar made this clear. This is why all of the trailers, demos, and screenshots were taken from the PS3. This is also why when they previewed it to IGN, Kotaku and etc, they were using a PS3. This has been known for 2 years now. Better articles, please….

Its all about marketing, something you clearly dont understand. Rockstar have gotten top dollars for this stunt by Sony. Thats what its all about. Both versions will be identical with a few minor differences just like Red Dead, Gta IV, its all the same.

This is what happens when Sony pays to have their product advertised in coordination with GTA V. Microsoft could and probably will/has done the same exact thing. Should we act as though the 360 will be the lead platform once we see that advertisement? Or should we actually use a bit of common sense and remember some of the simple rules of marketing and advertising?

Xbox 360 was the lead platform for GTAIV. Whenever they were showing off GTAIV it was on the 360. The reason GTAIV was delayed from October 2007 to April 2008 was because the PS3 version had bugs as the PS3 is well known for being a bitch to develop for. Maybe Rockstar North have the hang of developing for the PS3 now after all these years. Even so Rockstar North has said that this time both versions will be identical. However i can still see blurry backrounds on the PS3 version like GTAIV had as the PS3 has bad anti aliasing. And i can see pop ups still being a problem on the 360 version.

I admitt i am a Ps3 fanboy BUT have played GTA4 on both systems, id rather ps3, id rather have bad draw distance on PS3, than on 360 fucking BUILDINGS and SMALL INDESRUCTABLE objects just appearing out of nowhere, Oh and the road is like fucking LOADING as I drive along. Ill be getting PS3 version for sure.

Actually, I had the game on both systems, if I installed the game to the HDD on Xbox 360 the pop in problem was gone.

Not for me. I had no problems with pop ins after I installed it. But that’s niether here nor there. I have a PS3 now, and I’m glad PS3 is the lead platform this go around.

GTA has always been popular on the playstation, doesnt surprise me considering the fact that the playstation does have a better graphical output and it has a bluray player, which is why L.A Noire worked so well on it, but it did on the 360 but you needed 3 discs…. however this one requires 2 and one is just for the install… so does that mean it will be bad considering the fact that it aint split evenly like Noire was?

PS3 deserves to be in the spotlight for its last big game , Its nice to see a multiplatform game giving PS3 time to shine, istead of just XBOX ALL THE FUKING TIME. When next gen come out Sonys gonna wipe the floor with xbx. and take back gaming.
