Here’s what’s coming in Far Cry 4’s next big patch

FarCry4ShangriLa

It may not be as broken as that other open world Ubisoft game, but that doesn’t mean it’s free from issues. Far Cry 4 is out, and it has a few problems.  – particularly on the PlayStation 3 and a PC. Ubisoft is aware of them, and plans to fix them all in the next update. Here’s what you can expect from the next major update.

It’s easy to see why the PlayStation 4 was apparently the platform favoured for reviews – because it’s the one with least issues. Here’s a great big list of changes coming to the other versions.

Xbox 360

  • Fixed an issue where players were unable to complete the weapons collection even if they purchased every weapon (including main and side quests).
  • Fixed an issue that prevented players from accessing the Main Menu if they accepted a game invite from an inactive profile.

Xbox One

  • The correct error message is now displayed when the user tries to access the Options menu while paused when they are attempting to download a map while there is no connection to the Ubisoft servers.
  • The player will now return to the Main Menu if connection to Xbox Live is lost due to a disconnect during a host migration.
  • Users will no longer become stuck in an infinite loading loop if they attempt to change profiles while exiting a PvP session.

PS3

  • Players will now receive an error message if they are on a content restricted subaccount if they accepted a game invite while they were offline.
  • Players will no longer become stuck if they accept an invite while saving in the In-Game Editor.

PC

  • NVIDIA HairWorks fully enabled for GeForce GTX gamers.

PVP + Co-Op

  • The game will no longer freeze if a player accepts a Co-Op invite while in the Uplay App after quickly selecting a storage device.
  • Players will no longer experience very low FPS if they join a friend in a PvP lobbly while in the Uplay browser.
  • The game will no longer remain on a black screen if they use the Fast Travel feature immediately after the Bell Tower unlock cinematic.
  • Resolved certain issues that prevented a player from returning to the Story Mode from the Co-Op tab.

Progression

  • Players will now be able to achieve 100% progression if they do not drive a snowmobile when the vehicle is available.
  • Players will now be able to reach 100% progression after the “Day 1? Patch is applied.

Trophies

  • Corrected an issue where Trophies would not be rewarded for several weapons.

Main Menu

  • The player will now hear ambient sound if they return tot he Main Menu from the Uplay App.

It’s worth noting that for PlayStation3 players without an internet connection, Far Cry 4 has some issues that can render the game wholly unplayable, with an oft-reported “Fatal Error”.  It’s a pity that there are these sorts of issues, because Far Cry 4 is a resounding amount of fun and I think in this era of DLC, and patches and microtransactions and broken games, we’re forgetting that games are meant to be all about fun.

I have no problem with them having a pirate patch in there. It worked. If everyone has to have a day one patch, why should pirates be excluded.

It wasn’t in there to mess with pirates. That would be something like what they did in Batman AA or AC when you couldn’t make a certain jump. A FOV slider is nothing & doesn’t really mess with your game. He just said afterwards that if you’re complaining about no FOV slider it’s because it was patched in afterwards… therefore you’re a pirate.

But that means they are a pirate? They are playing it without the day 1 patch, something needed by everyone to play the ‘working’ game, meaning they got the game before it was release.

Pray tell what it could be? If you have to install the update before you can play the game, on all platforms, how else could you play it? That is a genuine question, Mr Good to Know.

            November 20, 2014 at 11:35

You’re the one asserting it’s impossible. My actual argument is it’s not smart to insult every single person by calling them a pirate without knowing definitively. Any exception would disprove his point, but if you’re happy to climb on the PC piracy trope go right ahead. Seeing as I have personally experienced being told I’m a pirate when using a legal copy of a game I bought, I don’t appreciate it.

When playing the game I’ve noticed that theres a Nvidia setting in the video presets and when i place it on that the game gets so so dark and the shadows go all wonky when you move. Surely that’s not how it’s suppose to be and I hope they fix this. Note i have a GTX 780 and meet all the “required specs”.

you should mention in your article that they have a fix for the black screen issue that is preventing thousands of people from being able to launch the game, they have had it since wednesday night yet they refuse to release it as a hotfix and they posted that people would have to wait until friday the 21st to get it as part of the patch, then they did ninja edit early on the morning of the 21st saying it would be ready the 21st or in the following days, they didnt do the ninja edit on the steam post, they waited till about 20 hours later and ninja edited the steam post and said the patch probably wont be ready till early next week now, they are pushing the patch eta further and further back and they are telling people via ninja edits and they are spreading the edits out over the span of almost a full day and over 2 different forums, giving them different info at different times, im assuming as damage control, they still refuse to release the fix they admitted to having since wednesday night as a hotfix which would enable thousands to actually play the game they paid for and they wont respond to the question as to why not

I have a huge problem with the game, I cant use my camera or rocks. The camera worked in the early parts of the game and i used it on some outposts. Then i wanted to use the camera on De Pleurs fortress, but it wouldn’t come up. I didn’t bother with it until i played a side mission for Willis and i had to use the camera to take a picture of the dead lieutenant. Of course since i cant get my camera up i cant take a picture of him and therefore cant complete the mission. If anyone had this happen to them please tell me if you were able to fix it and how. Thanks!
