Here’s Kinect’s First ‘Official” TV Ad

KinectAD

All those pretty terrible ads you’ve seen on the internet for Microsoft’s controler-less motion-sensing doohickey? Those were incomplete! Unfinished advertisements!

This is the first “official” one, and as expected, features all sorts of people jumping about like sillies not using controllers. Kinectimals, Dance Central and Kinect Sports seem to be the games on show, although it’s hard to tell, considering the dearth of actual game footage. "You don’t have to know anything you don’t already know. You don’t have to do anything you don’t already do," the ad promises; which is perfect, because I always stick my bum out to drift around corners.

I’ve been one of the more vocal Kinect naysayers here, but like all thing gaming related I probably will end up getting it. Dance Central is too much fun to pass up…I just need to see if the fun is amplified by the hearty application of tequila.

lol, spot the “jump” lag on the only bit of game footage.

Oh man, this thing is going to suck so hard, and what’s worse Assious is going to defend it even while he’s vomiting in a bag, because it sucks so hard.

Well I doubt that after trying out that dancing game at Rage for like 5 minutes I was dead tired, I prefer to play my games sitting down… But yes Kinect is going to sell Millions upon Millions of units…me I’ll just sit back a watch the fire works, while I eargerly await Gears 3…

Yeah I forgot that’s the only core game microsoft has planned for next year, now that Fable 3 is about to be released.

    HAHAHAAHAH! Fail is fail!

You should actually be hoping that Kinect does not sell, otherwise the Farmville generation will take over on xbox, and you’ll have your hands full with shovelware.

$300 in dental work is preventing me from getting this, but thanks to a friend, I might get PS Move for terribly terribly cheap. ^_^

@ Luna Get a wii instead, the PISS move and the assnect are both cheap imitations of Nindendo’s awesomeness.

    A. I just said that, due to dental work, I can’t afford a Kinnect, $150 US. How could I afford a $200 US Wii?

    B. Your insults towards Kinect and Move negate any opinion you have on the subject.

    played with connect this week
njoyed the ten pin bowling and dance games
but the racing and table tennis sucked ass
and if u too tall or too close then it got issues with picking up your hands etc… if u drop your hands to the side of your body then it thinks u stopped playing
but this was a dev kit thou the camera looked like the final release thou i was told that there would be a bunch of firmare updates to keep on tweaking the camera and the titles are still being tweaked so yeah got lots of potential thou for R2000 i’m sorry i must be nuts to pay R2000 for a camera and a mic
where as the move is way more accurate and cheaper
so i have to give this one to the PS MOVE as the winner in my books thou for kids it would be fun still

My opinions on the matter are especially valid since I am not a fanboi of either. Those who suck on the rotten teat of both corporations are the last to give any sort of opinion on these matters.

Typical fanboi = “Oh this console is awesome. oh the games are awesome Oh let me pleasure you with my mouth!”

Your opinions are especially invalid due to the fact that you adore Nintendo, and hate MS/Sony. You told me to buy a Wii, knowing I clearly said I don’t have the money to do that, and knowing that I’ll get the part of Move for close to nothing (The PS Eye, to be specific). You outright insulted Nintendo’s opposition and are trying to force me to get a Nintendo system with clear disregard for what I said about my current situation, or my own personal opinion.

A fanboy is someone who doesn’t listen to opposing opinions, believes that anything negative about their favorite, or positive about the opposition, is a reason to fight, and is someone who believes that the other consoles actually are opposition.

Why do I not own a Wii? Money and time. I have a DS, a PSP, a gaming class PC, an Xbox 360 and a PS3 (not to mention, I think 7 other classic consoles). I have more then enough to keep me busy, with a large backlog of games to play as is, and what little funds I have are put towards new fun on those consoles. I can go downstairs and play Wii on a 70″ HDTV whenever I like, but there’s nothing on it we want to play any more. Do I WANT a Wii? Yeah, I do. I like to have all the gaming options I can, but I’m not going to scrimp and save to add something to my collection that I don’t have time to use.

So there we go. You have my opinion on what I have, what I want, and what you suggest. Open your mind, find less to argue about in such trivial areas, find something real to believe in, let others have their own opinions, and all will be good.

In US $$, Move is cheaper for one player, exactly the same for two players.

Move = $100 with PS Eye, Sports Champions, and one Move controller. Move controllers are $50, so if you want the full experience, or to allow two players to have fun at the same time, it’s $150.

Kinnect = $150, that’s it no matter how many players.

Both of them are VERY accurate and I can tell you that we have had PLENTY of problems getting Move to work well with anyone not sitting directly on the couch, or standing directly in front of it.

I’m not defending Kinnect here as much as I am simple truth. Considering that I’m probably getting Move, that should probably prove that.

Gawd, people. Have FUN, these are GAMES! Why do you have to fanboy all over everything and make it, at the very least, a debate, because I refuse to outright argue with any of you about this.

PS Move and Kinnect BOTH need plenty of room, and are both the systems drawbacks. Read what I said in my last comment to see what I mean.

Keep in mind that Kinnect’s camera is motorized, and can turn to each side and up and down to keep you in frame. That’s something I REALLY wish Move would do so we don’t all have to squish on the couch to play.

No matter what anyone says about these ads, the truth is that if you think about the fact that the advert is targeting casual gamers or everyday people, it’s doing its job very, very well.

Hahahaha are u serious? I’ve had my wii since it released and I had played every popular game then one day I realized one thing, I’m 19. Years old, y am I playing Mario galaxy and every other 4 year old game. I got ps move when it came out and it shouldn’t even be compared to the wii. It’s an insult to the move. The move is so much more technologically advanced in every aspect. Hey it does HD and is accurate as hell. And it has good games that will come out like socom and kill zone 3. Im not a ps fanboy at all cuz i hadent played my ps3 for about a year until i got the move. So don’t just open ur mouth just because you think you know wat ur talking about when chances are you’ve never even tried the product. So maybe when your mom let’s you play M rated games you can be allowed to play ps move. Sorry I just hate nintendo fanboys.

Kinect is like Wii bowling. You have to buy it just for Wii Sports. Even if I never play any of the other games I got for the Wii, I’m still happy with the value I got out of it just for bowling with the family and friends. Expect Kinect to be the same, will love it for the social value, but also love my controller for Reach.
