Has Microsoft stolen IllumiRoom?

BBCIlumniroom

Microsoft stole a lot of headlines this week with their IllumiRoom reveal where they projected a 360 degree image across the room to enhance the immersive nature of gaming and other entertainment forms… but did they steal this idea from someone else?

An Englishman by the name of Graham Thomas demonstrated this exact ability to the BBC back in February 2010 and the BBC wrote an article, inclusive with video, about it right here. According to a reddit user, chrisbaume, Graham has patented this technology and backs up that claim with a link to the exact patent which can be viewed here which oddly enough seems to have been filed by the BBC.

I’m guessing that the fact that this article has made it onto reddit that Microsoft hasn’t purchased the patent from Graham or the BBC either.

So do you think Microsoft are in a bit of trouble here or is the technology sufficiently different to avoid litigation?
