GameStop slashes the price of the Xbox One even further

Titanfall

It was just yesterday that we revealed that the Xbox One is getting a price cut in the UK and now just one day later there is yet another price cut. Granted this one is a promotional thing but it’s quite a steal.

According to a report on Playstationing.com the UK branches of GameStop are now accepting pre-orders of an Xbox One with a bundled copy of TitanFall for a slashed price of £369.97 which converts to a mere R6600.

Now imagine if the Xbox One was retailing for that price all over, you could get a new-gen system plus a game for a tiny bit more than a PlayStation 4. Personally I think Microsoft are doing this to test the effect a price cut will have and if it goes well we will see another price cut for the Xbox One when it lands in other regions in July.

TitanFall is a generation defining moment for the Xbox One, the game’s beta has been met with critical praise across the planet and the Xbox One version will be the best console experience, but will it be enough to get the masses into stores to pick up the struggling console?

BUT STILL NOBODY has complained about the fact that the consumer is not warned about the mandatory internet connection required on the box anywhere.

garden warfare is even worse. you have to have xbox live to use the local co-op on the xbox one. the 360 version doesn’t even have local co-op so the game is completely multiplayer and online-only.

I would be surprised if the older, less powerfull 360 had a better experience than the One or if the PS4, which isn’t getting it at all had the better experience, although I’m sure PC will get the best experience of them all.

I think the xbox 360 version will have parity with the xone version to such an extend that the difference between the two are neglible. Titanfall isn’t a graphical powerhouse, therefore it makes sense that they delayed the 360 to favour the xone. Fortunately i can wait and will get the xbox 360 or pc version

Plus if you have a PS3,PS4 and Vita it’s games for all three. I’ve been a member way before the PS4 was announced and have not regretted it one bit.

Really trying to be difficult. A bundle is something which includes a console and a game. That was my first example. The second example is talking about game sales. At the moment the game sales (not bundle sales) are way ahead for TitanFall on Xbox One only (not including PC, Xbox 360).

“Why buy a brand new console for a game that is available on a platform you already own?” This seems to be having a minimal effect on the sales of Titanfall. Xbox One sales of Titanfall are accounting for around 70% of its total game sales.

A game where you just shoot and kill other players is supposedly the saving grace and killer app for X1 …. No wonder companies are closing down left right and center ….. Looks like the twitch generation is continuing into next gen. Bravo on Sony to make Knack a launch title. While it may not be a killer game it’s not another shooter. Will stick with Sony , as MS again is going the same route as XBOX 360 … relying on the COD generation. I honestly don’t want a system where majority of the BIG exclusives are shooters (Halo,Gears and let’s face it, COD has a bigger audience on the MS system than Sony)

I expect the price of the Xbox One to drop even further than that and all the way down to $300 by Christmas. M$ have, in the past, being happy to subsidise their devices just to push it to the mainstream market. That’s something the new head of Xbox gaming has done very well over at Nokia and pushed them ahead of Blackberry. That leaves only Mr Mehdi and Spencer in the Xbox division as the originals that worked behind the Xbox One.

THEY LOST ME WHEN THEY NAMED IT ONE. did they expect sales to be FOUR to ONE?

It’s called a 360 because it was going up against the PS3 and Microsoft
didn’t want it to be the Xbox 2 as it would sound like it was a
generation behind the Playstation. They came up with 360 as it was also
the machine that would come full circle for Microsoft as the original
console was sold as an expeirment to get into the console market and
this was the machine that had the true potential to take on Sony and Nintendo (at least that’s what they thought at the time).
720p compared to 1080p is a gen behind if you ask me. But do not ask me because I know nuuufffing.

Ironically, I just read this on DualShockers:

“Apparently the hype for inFAMOUS: Second Son combined with
the chance to get a PS4 (that is still quite hard to find in stores) in
time to play Sucker Punch’s upcoming exclusive are making the newly
announced GameStop bundle quite popular between the customers of the leading retailer.

The package, that includes the console, the game, an additional DualShock 4 controller and one year of PlayStation Plus membership for the not exactly cheap price of $569.96, basically instantly jumped to the top of the retailer’s best sellers charts, overtaking a few different values of Xbox gift cards, as you can see below.
To offer a term of comparison, Titanfall‘s Xbox One bundle that was made available yesterday is ranked 23d.”

            Couple of points:

            1. The 100 was just an example. I am sure Gamestop had more, but I was trying to make a point than “sold out” is not a quantitative (or qualitative for that matter) measure of anything.

            2. I am also sure Gamestop didn’t stock only 100 Second Son bundles and despite the fact that the Titanfall bundle is sold out, it only manages a 23rd spot on the list (at the time of posting), whereas Second Son is at the top.

            3. Nowhere did I say I dislike a console selling well. In fact, I have no problem with the Xbox brand. I do however have a MASSIVE problem with the BS Microsoft is trying to sell us. So yes, a part of me enjoys the fact that the Xbone is struggling. Hopefully this will teach Microsoft a lesson.

            4. Sony Santa Monica didn’t close shop. They reduced their work force. And no, I am not happy when ANY gaming studio closes or when people loose their jobs.
