Forza 3 Ultimate Edition Causes Massive Community Uproar

[Update: We have contacted Microsoft/Turn 10 for an official response on the matter. Stay tuned for another update]

We recently posted about Microsoft and Turn 10’s exciting new Forza 3Ultimate Edition and Top Gear partnership, but it looks like it wasn’t as exciting to everyone, especially the real dedicated community.

The Turn 10 Studios blog has become somewhat of a warzone since the announcement and to make matters a whole lot worse, Turn 10 are causing more frustration and anger by completely ignoring the whole situation.

More info after the jump.

The major issues stems from the fact that Turn 10 have included new vehicles into the pack that can only be obtained by buying the Ultimate Edition.

Most of the community members have already shelled out the full price for the original game as well as additional money towards all of the additional DLC packs. It’s for that reason that many of them see it as a complete slap in the face to have to buy another full game in order to get the new content and let’s face it, these guys want those cars more than anyone.

Even worse, most of these guys have spent the last year trying to get Turn 10 to fix issues and bugs with the game only to have a lot of the issues remain, not to mention packaged up with more content and release all over again. This, also after still not releasing one of the Jalopnik packs that was promised ages ago.

Everything started getting really out of hand when the comments where being completely ignored only to have Turn 10 allegedly start deleting comments as well.

Lately, Turn 10 has been focusing a lot on their Kinect integration, and with this new pack, are also looking to attract more newcomers and casuals. Either way, this is not how you treat your dedicated fan base, especially so close to the release of a rival title that is looking mind-blowing.

Turn 10 had better start doing some serious damage control, most of their most dedicated fans are pretty much saying their goodbyes and moving over to F1 2010 and Gran Turismo now, not a good thing for Turn 10 and the franchise in the long run.

Thanks to lans for the tip. You can view the post and comments on the Turn 10 blog here.

  1. Some very angry people. I made my mind up a long time ago to switch to the PS3, having being skrewed out of the VIP content for Forza 3… now this just reafirms my decision.

    Come on GT5.

Your credibilty just went up a massive notch Nick! If we are going to have 50 articles a day detailing every little small bug in GT5 then we should have them for every other car game out.

At the end of the day articles like this will only force Turn10 to do the right thing and make amends. Lets see if this catches on and Turn10 or MS listen. Forza 4 will be the better for it when it releases in the future IF the developers listen.

Agreed but at the same time I believe just as much that all of the GT5 issues in the news only helps Polyphony find and improve bugs, kinda like worldwide free beta testing

I have no issue with articles posting negative criticism toward GT5. I remember you telling us that your E3 head tracking experience was not great with GT5 and did you see me complain?

The only time i complained was when those fake loading time videos were posted and the smiley face crash damage pics which looked like they came out of a cartoon. Those were also clearly altered. I promise you some ppl saw that and made up their minds not to buy the game. Thats a massive disservice to Polyphony who have spent a hell of a lot of time giving us a monster of a game that could probably be split into 3 games with no complaints from anyone at the end of the day.

When i see articles with fake videos of Forza i will also call bullshit i promise you! Its not fair to the developers and really Xbox fanboys have honestly hit a new low especially when it comes to GT5 on the internet as of late.

@AC!D Yeah that thing where they slowed down the video during the loading times hits a whole new level of low when it comes to a place hunting for some free hits.

Theres enough negative shit out their without needing to fabricate some to get hits. Look how well you are doing on that site right now and your news is real. By the end of the day you will be the number one article on N4G and without resorting to fabrication. You will have gotten your hits and a bigger readership. Sorry but that wasnt posted for hits. Just pure spite.

The sad reality is that a lot of the time, people actually want the BS news, they want to see fights and arguments, its almost the very thing that keeps the video game news industry so popular.

There are no fanboys ever remotely close to video game fanboys, and they all love fanboying each other in the face.

AC!D as far as I am aware those stupid smiley face damage video’s and screenshots were real though… the loading time was ridiculous though and you gotta be a desperate soul to edit video’s like that simply to try and make a game look bad

People have short memories. EA was the first to try and milk us with dlc when they tried to charge extra for a few guns in one of their early releases. Gamers went ballistic and EA backed off. But it’s well known that if you keep pushing the public with something they are against, eventually they will come to accept it as normal. You can blame yourselves for this mess we are in with dlc. You allowed them to take the piss when you bought them little MS point cards and starting buying stuff online. You open the flood gates. And here we are having to deal with not only having to buy a game, but also the game of the year edition that comes with the 40+ add-ons developers have forced on us over the year. They are skinning us alive. And there is nothing you can do except NOT BUY THEIR GAME OR THEIR DLC. They don’t care if you cry like a little girl, all they care about is if their wallets take a hit. Wise up and start voting with your wallet and stop whining about things, as that does nothing.

I’m not an XBox owner so hadn’t heard anything about Forza problems until recently. All my mates who own it always raved about it and never mentioned a single issue, but it seems with every story about a GT5 bug someone comes back with an argument about Forza.

Whether or not GT5 has got a few bugs still to be ironed out (unreleased game in not quite finished shocker), and whether or not they stay in the final release, all the problems with GT5 haven’t helped Turn 10 in the slightest.

That said, it’s still the one game that’s always tempted me into nearly buying a 360…

This will likely come as DLC as well. Remember the Hoth level for Force Unleashed? It was originaly ONLY for the special disc version. You can now find that in your XBL Marketplace and PSN Store.

LOL, I gave up on Forza since the first game came out, reason 1 was that shity interface, also the fact that back then I was playing PGR and saw a particular trend I hate on Xbox games, every time a new version comes u have to relearn the whole damn menu, is like the focus of developers is on making a new interface and having a bit niccer graphs, on the other hand Forza didnt fill what GT can, GT is simple and straight, everything is there, I don’t have to pony extra money for content, Forza was the opposite, u pay for a start up but if u want that car then pay extra, is not like u got the game on 2009 and ur buying the pack with cars of 2010 but ur paying for cars of 2009 that were not included in the game just to increase revenue…that’s BS, kinda like MW2 and those redonculous map packs, but hey is gamers the ones who accept those changes…

Err if the cars were available as dlc what would be the point of the ultimate edition. Might as well just pick up the old game cheap and pay the extra 800MS points for the dlc.

Again, Turn 10 and Polyphony Digitial as companies are not even close. NOT EVEN CLOSE. There’s an entirely different philosophy. PD is on a whole nother level when it comes to the car world. PD not only makes stellar car games (see Gran Turismo), Nissan had them do their onboard computer for their Nissan GT-R. Toyota has them doing the track day unit for their FT-86 car. Citreon had PD design their whole Citreon GT. Nissan also had PD design the aero parts for the 350Z S-tune Kazunori Yamauchi himself is a professional race car driver having computed in the 12 and 24 hours of Nurburgring and the 25 hours of Thunderhill. Again, one is just a simple game company with people behind a desk/computer while the other is head by an actual race car driver who’s also very devoted car enthusiast leading a company who designs onboard computer tech for manufacturers to designing whole cars. To put the two even in the same sentence is just simply sacrilege.

I think Turn 10 will release this as DLC.

The part that sucks though is it discourages gamers to buy on release day. For their next game I’d rather wait till the better version of the game comes out, it’s cheaper than buying all the DLC and will cost close to or the same as the game when I first bought it.
