It’s that time of the year again, where South African gamers who reside in or around Johannesburg (or who don;t mind a bit of travel) get all giddy and head to rAge, the country’s premier tech and gaming expo, so see all the things they’ll be playing in the next year.
This year’s quite a big one, largely thanks to both of the next-generation consoles making an appearance before their international retail debuts; meaning you’ll get to go hands on with the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One if you’re willing to brave the crowds.
There’s good stuff for Nintendo fans too, with Mario Kart 8 (which, take my word for it, is dead sexy) and Super Mario 3D world both making an appearance, alongside other potential Wii U winners like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze. 3DS fans aren’t left out either, with The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds and Pokémon X&Y on show – along with the much-better-than-expected 3D-less 2DS.
And for you Pc chaps, you get to see and buy a bunch of hardware, and see games like Battlefield 4 running on hardware you wish you owned.
It’s a good time for gamers, so you really should be going. Let us know if you are, and also, let us know why you’re not going. I know last year, we almost died of it being too goddamned hot in the Dome; so space and air-conditioning could certainly be improved. rAge has perhaps outgrown the Dome…which is a good thing.
And for those of you not in the general Johannesburg metropolitan area; would you go to an event like this if it were held closer to you?

You take the ball from point A to point B.
You may not pass the ball forward. Only ever backwards.
You may only tackle the oke with the ball and it may not be too high so as to be “dangerous” (although any tackle is in theory dangerous)
By putting the ball down behind the goal line (while still holding it) you get 5 points. Then you get to kick at the posts. Get it over and between the middle bars and you get an extra 2 points.

South Africa has 5 maybe 6 cities that matters. The rest are perceived as America sees the rest of the world. Tiny,insignificant and useless.
