EA’s CEO speaks about their failures… I blame the gamers

The DICE conference has thrown up some decent honesty this year what with Bobby Kotick speaking candidly about being the Deathstar and the Harmonix affair last week.

And now we get to EA’s CEO speaks about the failures that are Mirror’s Edge and Dead Space. To his credit he pretty much blames his own company saying that they didn’t get enough of a marketing push behind them and were released at the wrong time.

While I agree wit him to some extent I do feel a large portion of the blame lies with us, the gamers. we bitched for years that EA just rehashed old IP’s and bought out new companies that had decent ideas and then milked them to death.

EA listened to our complaints and brought out some new original and edgy IP’s which we all spoke about and never picked up at retail, we didn’t give them a chance and when they sit back now and look at it all you couldn’t really blame them falling back into their old routine of waiting for someone to come up with a great IP and then buying them out, clearing out the company and milking it for all it’s worth.

By the sounds of it EA aren’t planning on that yet and are still going to be creating and marketing new IP’s for the next 2 years at least. Hopefully the fickle gaming public gives credit where it’s due and invests in new IP’s.

If these games did so poorly why are all ready sold as best sellers on PC?

I had both of said games and loved both. Just confused about Dead Space? Thought the game did well?? They are bringing out a sequel after all…
