If you are looking for a bat-sh*t-crazy, destructive, pro-American, Nazi killing, Hitler hating firt person shooter I am pleased to say you have come to the right place. Welcome to Brothers in Arms: Furious 4.

What is the game about you might be asking yourself? Well it is pretty complicated but I will try and explain it in the most elaborate and detailed way possible, here goes. Four big and nasty legendary warriors band together and set out to end a fictional take on WW2 and bring down the Nazi scum that is Adolf Hitler. If you are still interested, hit the jump.

It is important to remember that this is a fictional take on WW2. Yes, I agree that the WW2 genre has been done to death, and the general story line of Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 isn’t going to be winning any awards, but once you can get past all this and the patriotic manner of which the game forces on the player, its actually a whole lot of (and I am going to quote Geoff on this) “big dumb fun” that takes you on one hell of a ride.

The game does however, feature a few things worth mentioning that might reel you in a bit further. For one, Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 supports up to four player co-op and in my opinion, is the only way this game should be played. Feeling like one of the Inglorious Basterds is better when you are not the only one.

Destructible environments are always fun, and this game has plenty of them. When the Nazis strap on jet-packs and take to the skies only to be shot down by one of your many customisable weapons and then landing on a bear trap you have placed and implanted with a grenade for that special something something, looks far better when the houses around the explosion crumble and burn. I told you, bat-sh*t-crazy!

But the mood is lightened by some humours dialog and pro-American propaganda but Gearbox have done a good job making you feel like one of the four by adding in this goofy, quirky and sometimes even ridiculous dialog.

Ubisoft have pushed the franchise in a new direction, and a lot of people were wondering why this game is so different to the last, especially when the last one was so successful. However my inside sources have told me that Ubisoft and Gearbox had a four game contract, and seeing as this will be the last in the series, they took a chance on a direction that is simply out of this world crazy.

Brothers in Arms: Furious 4 may have a lot wrong with it in terms of story and lack of innovative gameplay, but it makes up for this in just being a game that you can pick up, have some laughs with your friends in a 4 player co-op marathon and kill some “Hitler loving Nazi scum” – Montana (One of the Furious 4)

A penny for your thoughts?
