Dragon Age getting multiplayer?

Mass Effect 3, Bioware’s space opera RPG is getting multiplayer – so why not add it to their current medieval fantasy RPG Dragon Age?

According to Kotaku’s insiders, that’s exactly what’ll be happening.

Apparently, the multiplayer will be allow players to face off against each other as well as A.I, head-to-head in human and Dragon forms. Killing Dragons is fun and all – but now you’ll get to be the dragon. According to the source it’ll utilise DICE’s Frostbite 2 engine so expect it to at least look good. Although Dragons will probably have overpowered tactical beam of fire or something. There’s no word on whether this multiplayer will debut with Dragon Age 3, or will be a standalone title.

With Dragon Age effectively being the spiritual successor to Baldur’s Gate, I’d welcome multiplayer; it was as robust and co-op focused as that game’s multiplayer was. As it seems right now, this looks like Arena type PvP and PvE centric, tacked on nonsense without full campaign co-op in sight – but I certainly hope to be proved wrong. What do you think? Do you want some human company in your Dragon Ageing?
