CliffyB confirms Gears of War Exile’s been cancelled

Back in 2010, rumours surfaced that Epic was busy on a Gears of War spinoff title, called Gears of War: Exile.

It was meant to be shown off at the Spike TV video game awards last year, before being hastily pulled – never to be seen or heard of again. Well, it’s been cancelled.

Many speculated that it would be an on-rails,  “made for Kinect” title to lure in core gamers. We thought it could have possibly been an interesting take on a RTS. Now we’ll never know – as Epic’s confirmed the title’s been shelved.

"Let’s just bury the hatchet now," Gear’s of War designer Clifford Bleszinski told Gamespot. "Gears of War: Exile was an unannounced game that I can’t give any details about that has since been cancelled."

If Gears of War Exile was to become a Kinect title, I think we can all breathe a sigh of relief in not having to see the franchise reduced to this.
