Call of Duty’s getting higher with Ascendance

Creed

The very best thing I can say about Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare is that it’s better than Ghosts. It at least had a pretty good single player campaign, and even managed to inject a bit of life in the multiplayer – even if the servers negated whatever gains were had. Already host to a bunch of DLC, Advanced Warfare is getting even more.

The next bit of COD:AW DLC and other initialisms is called Ascendance, and according to developer Sledgehammer Games, it’s the “definitive DLC package.” In addition to four maps, you’ll also get some new guns and the EXO grapple ability playlist. “Exo Grapple gives players a faster way to reach strategic vantage points or a brutal secondary weapon to take down the competition, exclusively on Ascendance maps,” says the press release.

Here are the new maps you’ll get, adding a dose of verticality to Advanced Warfare.

  • Perplex: Get vertical in Sydney as you fight to dominate this five-story modular apartment complex. Take the high ground or blast through the close-quarters interior in this small to medium sized map. Adapt your strategy mid-match when construction drones shift apartment modules, creating new routes and cover positions.
  • Site 244: An alien spacecraft has crash landed, spilling its mysterious cargo under the shadow of Mt. Rushmore, USA. This medium to large three-lane map allows for any style of gameplay, focusing combat through the space ship’s fuselage and around the debris-littered landscape. Use the map-based scorestreak to crack open an alien spore and instantly enhance your perks and exo abilities.
  • Climate: Fight your way through a futuristic man-made utopia in this lush, climate-controlled enclosure. In this small to medium sized circular map, land and water routes channel frenetic combat around the central island structure. Watch your step when the river water changes from an asset into a deadly bubbling obstacle.
  • Chop Shop: Think fast as you make your way through the black market exoskeleton industrial complex and engage in fast-paced shootouts in this medium sized, symmetrical map. Activate the map-based scorestreak to take control of an Advanced Repulsion Turret that radiates a deadly microwave EMP to help lock down key areas.

“Ascendance has it all, four all-new maps that were designed from the ground up for Exo abilities and the next chilling entry in the Exo Zombies experience. We’re really excited and can’t wait to play with the community in just a couple of weeks,” said Michael Condrey, Co-Founder and Studio Head, Sledgehammer Games.

“The community response to Advanced Warfare continues to inspire us, and we’re pushing ourselves every day across all the teams to deliver our best. Havoc was a great start for DLC and we think Ascendance delivers even more of the nonstop action fans love,” said Glen Schofield, Co-Founder and Studio head, Sledgehammer Games.

It’s coming to Xbox platforms next week – and a month later to PC and PlayStation.

Too bad Stapp lost his mind.

I prefer Myles Kennedy. He has a way better voice!

This is true. I was never a huge Creed fan but I have to admit they were a pretty good band. Admittedly that is mostly due to Mr. Tremonti

Yeah I mostly liked the quitar riffs! I just started playing guitar when they were becoming well known. Songs like One last breath inspired me to practice harder!

That riff from Take me Higher (if thats correct) was pretty epic. But his AlterBridge stuff is really cool.

It was indeed!! That filler lead he throws in right after Stapp sings “can you take me higher” is tight!

That’s exactly what I am talking about! Very cool indeed. I always felt like he was too metal to be in Creed and that little twiddle he does there told me that.

Agreed. Luckily teamed up with the great Myles Kennedy does some justice to his music now. Man, that guy has a voice.

Yeah man, one of the best vocalists out there. After Chris Cornell of course!

Did you see Chris Cornell when he was out here a while back? I used to feel the same way as you do about his voice until then…

Nope, why? Did he have a bad live performance?

Honestly. It was terrible. He was very cool and all, had one of his fans onstage with him jamming the guitar and what not. I’m not sure if it was just an off night though.

Ah man that’s really disappointing! Oh well, I’m still looking forward to the new Soundgarden album coming out soon!

It was man. i was really keen to see him. I reckon it might have been the whole sea level thing because Jonathan Davis from Korn was on oxygen in between songs…

Never been a CoD fan… This, this looks good.

On a side note: Competitive gaming.
Now without starting a master race argument, again. I just have a simple question; “Can console gaming be considered as competitive gaming?”

My thoughts; Yes, as soon as you have any form of PvP you have competitive gaming. Larger scales (clan vs clan) can be done on any device. Am I missing something?

Oh they still adding maps to Call of Duty 4. Why can’t they add a new gaming engine? Or is that too much to ask for, seeing as the gaming community has supported Call of Duty from get go.

The game Activision is playing is to see how much money they can get from the same old shit they been selling us since, god, how many years has it been.

    Don’t Support Call of Duty.
