!@#*&$ ass #$&% of a %&#$. Mass Effect 3 isn’t coming out this year anymore.

After teasing us all with that wad of fantastic new Mass Effect 3 screenshots that we posted up yesterday, Bioware has decided to delay Mass Effect 3 not by a week, or a month… nope… it’s delayed right into 2012.

Is it the Playstation 3’s fault now that its multi-platform? More &#@%*! info after the jump.

Actually no, there are no indications that the now-multi-platform title has caused any of the delays, although I wouldn’t be surprised considering that they now have to platforms to deal with. Don’t get me wrong, ain’t no hatin’ for the new Playstation 3 Mass Effect crowd, as far as I’m concerned the more people that play Mass Effect, the merrier – always.

EA is also apparently looking at altering the gameplay again to cater to an even bigger audience, even after the shift from ME1 to ME2’s gameplay was so drastic, but we will only report more on that when we have more solid info. That and I may blow a fuse thinking about it any longer.

Back to the current news.

The official announcement came from via the official Facebook page saying:

“Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.”

The announcement was made by Mass Effect’s Executive Producer, Casey Hudson who will no doubt need to employ security from now until early 2012 to keep him safe from disgruntled gamers and especially certain South African writers (I’m not naming names – OK it’s me).

This is one of those moments though.

On the one hand there are many positive angles to look at this from. Firstly, the game will probably be better, so we can’t complain about that. Second, Mass Effects have always come out in first quarter slots, so no real change there… and then third… more time for Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, this is the truth.

I still want to swear a lot, the Mass Effect series is one of my all-time favorites so waiting longer just plain sucks, but with the crazy amount of games that get released these days, I’m sure I will be so busy playing other great games that the time will cruise by before we know it.

Still… @#(%*.
