Battlefield 3 hackers getting innocent players banned Smoking

BF3punkbuster

Have you found yourself banned in Battlefield 3 through no fault of your own? Have you pleaded innocence, only to have others peer down on you with a knowing “yeah….sure!” look of derision? I mean, most Battlefield 3 servers use the tried and tested Punkbuster to stop cheaters and hackers, right?

Don’t worry; we believe you. According to Kotaku, a group of Punkbuster-hating hackers have managed to get legitimate, innocent players banned from servers that utilise the anti-cheating service.

"We are bringing back the unerring of punkbuster back for a 3rd season,” said anonpbspoofer on cheating site Artificial Aiming’s forums. “We have selected ggc-stream as the target since they have the most streaming bf3 servers and makes it very easy to add fake bans,"

"We have selected ggc-stream as the target since they have the most streaming bf3 servers and makes it very easy to add fake bans. In 2011 we hit them with a mass ban wave and now were are banning real players from battlelog while ggc-stream is totally unaware. We have framed 150+ bf3 players alone."

It’s not exactly a widespread problem – but it’s certainly a problem if paying customers are getting locked out of games because other people are idiots. Not cool. EA is aware of the problem , and is looking in to it. In the meantime, they’ve issued a temporary workaround for affected players.

"We are aware that some Battlefield 3 players are experiencing connection issues with PunkBuster enabled servers. This problem is limited to a small subset of players on PC and will not impact players on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360.”

"We are actively looking into the specifics of this issue and we are confident that we will have a permanent solution in place shortly. In the meantime, if a player’s connectivity has been affected, we recommend that in the interim they join servers that are not running PunkBuster. There is a filter setting for this in the multiplayer server browser."

The only problem then is that you’ll be playing on servers without anti-cheating systems…but hey, at least you’ll be playing, right?

yup, I have been prevented from playing on pretty much any server since yesterday thanks to this issue. I only play on the SA servers due to ping speed so I would love to know how I was added to this “ban” list…

No, I dont play with hacks etc, thats just stupid and ruins any game, a)I never have…b)I dont care if anybody believes me or not…at least I know this to be fact. I only play on PB enabled servers for this exact reason.

I have been through all the forums on all the sites I could find relating to this issue and there are no solutions at this point.

I will not play on any server that does not have PB so I just wont be playing for a while I guess, at least not on my PC…play it on my XBOX instead..

Hopefully the issue is resolved soon.

Same happened to my sister’s game she can’t play at all, also tried forums and so on, to make it work but to no avail.

I would give up gaming for a month (and thats alot for me) to spend 5 minutes with one of these hackers.  So i can show him the way they make people feel.  Little trolls

It’s one thing to hack and cheat just to stick it to the man. But to get innocent people involved is just not cricket. (Hahaha cricket and cheat in one sentance)

These hackers deserve slow and cruel punishment. I don’t think 5mins is enough.

Depends if i can get him before or after my 1 month away from gaming.  If after i only need 5 min (and some tools, muwahahaha).  If before, well then give me the entire month to keep myself occupied

Lonely little emo wannabees living in their mommies basement, eating twinkies, drinking red bull and loving anal lube, yip thats what they are. Most of thse twits can’t play the game properly, hence the need to cheat.Ya, 5 minutes is far too short, make it an hour.

Everyone loooooooooooooooves hackers, right up until they do something that actually impacts their own lives.  We’re headed for an interesting future with these people, we really are.   It’s great having a shadowy entity that functions outside of all oversight, isn’t it?

  • Darthdad

What I do to avoid confusion, and not get pinged as a hacker, is play really really badly. I try to get my K/D ratio to about 0.5 and my win/loss to about 0.4. That way  I can’t be falsely accused of being a hacker, as no-one has stats as bad as mine. And I’ll tell you so far it is working.
