Bad Company 2 makes a bad entrance Popular

Battlefield Bad Company 2

The Battlefield Bad Company 2 demo snuck up on us yesterday and by the look of it EA were just as surprised as we were.

As soon as the demo was announced everyone rushed to download it and get some game time in but unfortunately that was easier said than done.

By all accounts either the servers weren’t activated yet or there was simply not enough capacity to handle the load which reminds me a lot of the problems we originally had with Battlefield 1943.

I am sure EA will rectify this as soon as possible but in my opinion it’s about time Microsoft (and Sony) started financially penalising companies for these sorts of mistakes. We all knew it was going to be popular so pinching pennies and trying to get away with as few servers as possible just isn’t acceptable.

Hopefully it will be up and running perfectly by the time I get home later today so I can put up a hands on.

And the PS3 demo will be arriving early next week, hopefully without any of these issues.

  • WALL-E

    EA = Useless

    • http://www.gamerlobby.net koldFU5iON

if that were true I doubt you’d see such good games as BFBC, Dead Space, and what I believe is going to be truely awesome is Dante’s Inferno.

Saying EA is useless is a fail on your part my friend

      • WALL-E

I’ve never had a perfect gaming experience with an EA product, my friend. You obviously don’t recall all the initial problems with the first Bad Company game. I’m sure a few people can share there experience with problematic games like Skate and Army of 2: TFD. When a company releases a demo it’s the first way they really get to showcase their product to their consumers. Saying ‘it’s only a demo’ is NEVER an excuse. If you are a large corporation wanting to entice people to buy your product DON’T GIVE THEM A SHIT EXPERIENCE. Is it too much to ask that they spend a little more time polishing things, before unleashing it on a critical audience? By the way your defending EA it wouldn’t surprise me if you are in the gaming industry, hence your biased opinion.

        • Bobby “Meatloaf” Kotick

But in this case, we are talking about a demo. :pinch:

I’m not aware of the initial problems with Bad Company (and I do not doubt that there were), but that’s because I never buy games (especially MP games) on launch.

Bobby’s golden rule is never buy on launch day, and ALWAYS wait a few weeks, especially for the first few patches (and you also get the benefit of the retrospective reviews and the reviews that actually made their way through the entire game).

  • easy

i don’t see it as a bad thing really. rather now than on launch day.
plus its a free demo download, and the only thing that’s lost is your bandwidth.

it is kinda crappy that the demo ends on the 25th feb.

  • Ruslan

Regardless of the demo being flawed by online issues I will be picking up this game. Its SP and MP albeit different are superior to anything MW2 has to offer without the glitches and hacks.

  • Al360

    tru dat :ninja:

  • WeRRieS ZA

Well I played with 3 friends last night for +- 4 hours with not too many issues, and game game dropped once or twice but we had hours of fun.

An Epic game! And help to supplement your killing urge when tired of all the noobtubers/campers in MW2.

Can’t wait for the full game!
