Australia finally enters the adult world

r18 australia

This is a sad day for all of us who loved making fun of the Australian censors but at the same time it’s a great day for any gamers who actually live in Australia.

The long awaited R18+ rating has come into force in Australia meaning that for the first time since the inception of gaming the Australian government has come to the realisation that adults also play games.

Though to be fair I think the real winners here are the parents who are worried about their kids playing over aged games as I remember when I lived in Australia Wolverine was available to buy with a M15 rating.

Wolverine is possibly the most violent game I’ve played in years and I for one would prefer seeing an 18 rating on something like that, even if the studio could afford to bribe the government officials to let it through with a 15 rating as I needed it for my movie tie in.
