And the top 20 most-played Xbox 360 games of 2012 are…

Duh

SO WHAT’S EVERYONE PLAYING RIGHT NOW? Say what you like about the state of gaming today, but people are always going to vote with their wallets. And when you’ve paid some serious cash for a certain game, you’re pretty likely to spend many a night playing it, while your loved ones ask you to come back, because you’re breaking the family apart with your constant nights spent playing My Little Pony Online and I’m drifting again. Xbox number man Major Nelson recently revealed the Top 20 list of most played games for 2012, and quite frankly, no one is going to be surprised at the results.

Based on the number of unique gamers per day, Call of Duty once again took the top spot, as well as spots two, five and ten. Halo 4 was a strong third, while Minecraft was a pleasant fourth on the charts of face-shooters and ball-handlers. Here’s the rundown;

  • Call of Duty: Black Ops II
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
  • Halo 4
  • Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
  • Call of Duty: Black Ops
  • FIFA Soccer 13
  • FIFA Soccer 12
  • Battlefield 3
  • Halo: Reach
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
  • Borderlands 2
  • Assassin’s Creed III
  • Skyrim
  • Madden NFL 13
  • Gears of War 3
  • NBA 2K13
  • NBA 2K12
  • Far Cry 3
  • Grand Theft Auto IV
  • Forza Motorsport 4

And moving away from games built with a budget that could fund the nextset of Avatar movies ten times over, comes the list of Arcade games which received much love in 2012;

  • Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
  • Trials Evolution
  • The Walking Dead
  • Pinball FX2
  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
  • Castle Crashers
  • Gotham City Impostors
  • I Am Alive
  • Fruit Ninja Kinect
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD
  • Trials HD
  • Magic 2013
  • Fez
  • Dungeon Defenders
  • Alan Wake’s American Nightmare
  • Peggle
  • The Simpsons Arcade Game
  • REAL STEEL
  • Toy Soldiers: Cold War
  • Full House Poker

Want some MOAR lists? Fine then, here you go! And the top 20 indie games of 2012 are;

  • CastleMiner Z
  • CastleMiner
  • Total Miner: Forge
  • Avatar Deathmatch
  • FortressCraft Chapter 1
  • Murder Miners
  • The Impossible Game
  • Avatar Laser Wars 2
  • The $1 Zombie Game
  • Avatar Paintball
  • Avatar Legends
  • Fortress Wars
  • Miner Of Duty
  • Miner4Ever
  • Avatar Laser Wars
  • End Of Days: Infected vs Mercs
  • Toy Stunt Bike 2
  • Flight Adventure 2
  • Don’t Die Dateless, Dummy!
  • Block World

There’s a lot more variety in the indie and arcade lists. Although how the hell GTA IV can still pull forth a large enough unique audience to remain in the top 20 is beyond me. Will thisr see a game that doesn’t rhyme with Fall of Dudey take the top spot? The answer to that, is a solid maybe.
