Advanced Warfare’s lag-fixing patch “coming soon”

Right now, the multiplayer component of Advanced Warfare is still a bit of a hot mess. The game’s netcode and its overzealous lag compensation are beyond appalling, and the lack of functional dedicated servers is frankly unforgivable if you ask me. The game is out every single year and you’d imagine Activision has the budget – and importantly, the foresight – to provision for servers. Still, the game is broken, but an update is on the way.

In a new blogpost, Sledgehammer Games’ Michael Condrey said that the game will be getting an update to fix the game’s myriad issues.

  • Prestige reset issues, including emblems and challenges.
  • Adjustment to the in-game chat names notifications placement.
  • Fix for weapon reloads counting as speed reloads in certain circumstances.
  • Connectivity optimizations.
  • Fix for stats accumulating towards leaderboards after prestiging.
  • Adjustment to challenges to unlock Camos for weapons.
  • Fix for round-based game modes, affecting Win/Loss ratios.
  • Implemented ability to unlock eSports Rule options in Private Match.

The impending patch will no doubt be a welcome one for the millions of gamers who’ve shelled out for a brand new Call of Duty, only to be left with a broken game. It’ll also perhaps help quell the godawful abuse that’s been hurled at the game’s developers. Here’s an example of the vitriol that’s been directed at Sledgehammer.

Classy. I’ve just started with the game’s single player campaign, and I rather like it. It’s great popcorn entertainment that’s perfect for mindlessly killing an hour or two.

GTAV seems to be A good FPS. I hear its non-linear, great on-line and 30hours long.

Game developers should really learn from each others mistakes, because this is becoming all too familiar.

I keep saying this juvenile industry greed is gonna ruin us, but that’s not gonna stop pre-orders and poorly-budgeted credit purchases (ie money you’ll never have but willingly spend)

I honestly wonder how we’re supposed to stop this…

I understand that as games become more complex and advanced from games of yesteryear, there will be some more complicated issues to fix. I just can’t recall a major title release in the last year (maybe more) that did NOT have a single issue with it when it came out…. What the hell is going on with this industry! It’s as if they just decided ‘Nah don’t worry about fixing the issues now, we need to release the game to bump up our quarterly figures to look better for stockholders, and besides we can cover the cost of these issues within the first ten minutes of the games sales anyway because we all know our Brand loyalists are a bunch of sheeple that don’t give a crap anyway.’ Makes me has a sad for gaming in the future 🙁

      The internet fucked it up.
Back in the day when something went GOLD it meant the QA department made sure the cartridge does not get a Total Recall from the consumer Watchdogs if its fucked. Now they just PATCH the shit out of it.

True that, with the internet, a fix can be distributed globally at literally the speed of light, so why aim for perfection right out the gate? After all aren’t we gamers just a bunch of winy babies that make a noise when we don’t get what we think we deserve but still don’t do anything to help change the problem anyway? No matter what, the cycle continues. I am not saying I support piracy, but, you know… I get it, when things like this keep happening over and over to honest folks paying good money for a half made game and getting screwed over, but don’t worry they will fix it SOON! 😀

          We vote with our wallets.

I remember walking out of the game shop for 2 decades before the internet with a smile on my face knowing that that was that. The purchase has been made. It is a finished, fully envisioned product in my hand. The NINTENDO SEAL OF QUALITY was just stamped on the box for fun.

Pop the game in. Wiggle, blow, blow, wiggle press play.

          and that was that.

It would be fun if a COD player played Doom for the first time. Where do I go? Where’s all the cover/chest high walls? Why can’t I quick scope? Where do I get a yellow key? Why wont my health regen?

It was DOOM that started the FPS.
I heard that before they send a DEMO for a green light they would just delete the character and place a gun on screen to show the concept of the level design.

What they found was that the frame rate and production costs improved dramatically by doing this. So they decided to keep it like the demo version.

Now we are stuck with the First Person view.

I HATE IT. I think its lazy and non-immersive. Some games if you are lucky will have shadows and reflections.

        FPS NEEDS TO DIE ALREADY.

Now somebody just has to use #noteverygamer #notyoursheild and #yolo and then we have this all wrapped up in a neat little bow

    JK fyi

In all honesty, I have 0 fucks to give, they should get more complaints, its ridiculous that a game thats had a closed alpha, closed and open beta STILL has server issues.
