A look at Call of Duty’s futuristic warfare

It’s a very strange world we live in where the next iteration of Call of Duty seems to be more refreshing and more evolutionary than the next Battlefield, but that’s the world we’re living in right now. While Battlefield Hardline has been accused of being little more than an expansion for Battlefield 4, most who’ve gone eye-balls on with Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare seem genuinely impressed.

Much of that stems from the new futuristic gadgetry and weaponry available in the game, like the exosuits and laser guns and other high-tech stuff we’re glad doesn’t actually exist in warfare right now because enough people are dying as it is. This is probably the way war is going though…and it would be nice if people could just hug it out instead of hurling bullets at each other.

Death in video games though? That’s just fine. Here’s a video from Sledgehammer Games’ Glen Schofield explaining how all of the new futuristic tech will make you a better killing machine in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

Call of Duty: Advanced warfare is coming to PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It’s out on November 4. Sledgehammer will be making the new gen versions with a focus on getting those to look as shiny as possible, while former Transformers and Deadpool devs High Moon Studios will be stuck doing porting duty..

I actually have high hopes and expectations for this latest in the long-running, annualised franchise. Call of Duty’s needed a bit of a fresh spin on it for ages, and this could well be it. Because it sure as hell wasn’t the inclusion of dogs and realistic fish AI.

I don’t get why they are still pandering for the old gen consoles. Sure nice for them, but please, for all that is holy, focus on moving on…

Hehe. Nah, I get what you mean, but the budget of games is surely going to be higher if they keep building games for 2 different generations. Rather have them build a solid game for one gen and wait till I can get to that platform.

It’s more or less 2.5% of one Nkandla ( our new national currency ).

Eg. New presidential Jet cost 10.60 Nkandlas ( one Nkandla = R230M ).

COD AW has the potential to have an excellent SP campaign especially with Kevin Spacey in the mix. If they can deliver on this I might actually buy my first COD game since MW2

Looks cool, I just hope the campaign is actually worth playing and longer than 4hours. Looks like it could be a pretty stellar experience….But I still have to say that Exoskeleton that they’re raving about that is gonna change the way you play Call of Duty is seriously just a blatant copy of the Nanosuit. Climbing walls is nice, but why not throw is some other cool abilities? Maybe creating a holographic decoy of yourself? Just…something different. I’m obviously not a game designer by any means but c’mon, stop treating your copypasta ideas like it’s the next big thing

So many games had extra strength and speed. But hey, CoD allows you to use a car door as a shield

I fell off the COD train after MW2, and have hurled many insults at it since, but this promises to maybe be fun.
I cant shake the feeling that because they are still developing for old gen consoles that it wont be at good as it could be if they were just focusing on the new hardware though.

They should just make a game called Call of Duty Vs Crysis and have a storyline where the world is in shambles cause of Aliens and Russia. Then the battle can go 3 ways with the crew of Call of Duty fighting the Russians, Crysis crew fighting aliens and then each other for true dominance lol

The last COD game I bought was was modern warfare, after that I just lost interest in the COD series and shifted over to the dark side, the battlefield side. Loved the battlefield games, went the premium routes, along came bf4, enjoyed it, was a bit troublesome though, heck I’m still enjoying it. Then out popped this hardline “THING” and with that I shall bid the battlefield series a temporary farewell and join the ranks of the COD fanboys once again, because Advanced Warfare looks pretty damn amazing.
