We’ve had Xbox, Playstation 3 and mobile devices all receive a chance to stand tall in the spotlight, and today we’re wrapping up those awards with good ol’ Nintendo. The venerable brand may not always be the most exciting developer when it comes to new games, but it’s got a solid record for bringing out solid titles based on their existing franchises. And that winner for 2012 is…

New Super Mario Bros U

We went to our resident Nintendo expert on this one, and after charging several first class tickets to the company credit card, we finally found Geoff rotting away in a Cambodian jail cell for attempt to smuggle out Sriracha sauce from that country.

And according to this jailbird, the latest Super Mario Bros game for the fledgling Wii U console is one of pure nostalgic value, fun and challenge, and worth having on that console. Ah, we’ll miss Geoff around these parts.
