ShadowOfTheColossus

Apparently Yahtzee hates StarCraft 2 and nothing else recent has grabbed his attention so he has gone all the way back to his PS2 days to review his favourite title of all time, Shadow of the Colossus.

I have never played it personally and I can’t say that this review makes it sound overly interesting either… have any of you played it? Is it worth getting my hands on a PS2 for?

There’s an oft-rumoured Ico/SoTC HD bundle coming for PS3 – and if it happens, it’ll be so worth getting.

I really can;t wait for Last Guardian. If it’s anything like its predecessors, it’s going to be incredible.

Half way through it. Brilliant game! Took a long time to get hold of a copy but, absolutely worth it.

Wow Gavin just wow!!! You havent played one of the greatest games of all time? Screw the review just play it. Although the game was clearly meant to be played on stronger hardware so wait for the Team Ico PS3 HD collection which should be announced for a pre release before the Last Guardian hopefully at TGS. The fact that the game even runs on PS2 is a testament to the greatness of Team Ico. A true masterpiece!!!!

There are only 2 other games ive ever shed a tear in MGS3 and FFX but this game had me emotional after nearly every Colossus fight. After watching the review after i typed my previous post i see it was actually really positive. He ends it saying theres nothing like it and its damn good, really really damn good. Seriously you wont be disappointed and it will get you excited about the Last Guardian which will again be another masterpiece but wont get the accolades or sales from mainstream media and gamers it deserves.

All I can say is good luck finding PS2 copies of the game if the Collection doesnt come out.

Gavion you not playing shadow of colossus in all this time proves 2 things,
    1. Your an XBot
    2. Your an MTV Gamer Xbot

    MTV Gamer Xbot Definition
Does not like games, plays game to appear cool, plays any or all games he can get randomly, coz he has no taste of his own. Does not know a quality title unless it bit him in the nads.

I haven’t played it either Lans, but it’s because my PS2 broke at around about that time (OMGWTFLOL PS2’s can break??) , so I wasn’t able to play it. That and my PS2 was basically nothing but a GT4 machine for the last year that I had it, just a box to put in my GT4 disc and plug my racing seat into. Man, I miss that racing seat…

That’s why emulators come in handy. My phat PS2 is almost 10 years old, and although it’s running like the day I got it, I know one day it’ll shuffle its mortal coil, but that’s why I have PCSX2 installed on my PC, to continue the magic. :cwy:

@Bobby – I seem to have issues with disc drives… My PS2 phat didn’t die, but the disc tray just completely croaked. I’m on my 5th or 6th Xbox 360 now, never had one die on me, always a problem with reading discs.

I’ve even had to return an Xbox 360 after a day because the friggin’ eject button for the disc was broken. (true story).

Maybe I should stop inserting the discs using my braai tongs?

I have to agree, I hate games and by not playing this game it proves that I love the Xbox… not sure how but I am sure it does

To everyone else, I will take the overwhelming majorities opinion and find myself a way to play this game

The PS2 discs drives were/are notoriously bad. If mine finally croaks (knock on wood), the disk drive will probably be the culprit. I once opened it, and all the components in the drive are plastic (except for the metal tray rods), so it’s easy to wear the tray down.

5th xbox, good grief man, but the fact that you can get them replaced make the pain more bearable. I’m hoping for an emulation solution for the xbox 360 in the future (and not to download illegal game ROMS). I actually like to collect games and consoles, and I really don’t want to sell off my collection because of a faulty console.

I still have my old nintendo console (8bit), Gamecube, PS0ne and the cheaply-made Korean or Chinese import (with the 1000 in 1 game cartridges). Those were awesome though, and South Africa was flooded with them.

Sadly, my Sega died ages ago. I tried to fix it, but alas… 🙁
