Titanfall: PC vs. Xbox One comparison videos

titanfall-1

Titanfall is coming soon. It’s a game that has many people quite excited for it, especially those who’ve  played it. You’ll be hard pressed to find anybody who’s actually played the game and isn’t giddy at the thought of playing it again. When it launches, it;s coming to just two platforms; Xbox One and PC. For South Africans, it really means PC is the only option when the game is released. How do the two versions compare?

The fine fellows at VG247 have done a few comparison videos, showing the differences between the Xbox One and PC versions of the game. You’ll get 1080p and 60 frames per second from both versions of the game, though news out of the recent hands-on event confirms that the Xbox One beta is currently rendering at 792p, up-scaled to 1080p. Respawn is targeting 900p for the final build…which you’d imagine would be done by now seeing that the game will be out in a month. Yes, it’s the Source Engine and you’d expect a new console to do better with such old tech running the game, but as you can see from the videos, it’s been tweaked and upgraded quite considerably.

The GPU powering the PC version here is a Nvidia GTX 780ti, which packs quite a punch, and should play the game at resolutions well beyond 1080p.

The Titanfall Beta begins on Valentine’s Day, February 14th. For details on how to get into the Titanfall Beta, go here. Titanfall will be released on Xbox One and PC on March 13 in Euro territories, and will grace the Xbox 360 two weeks later.

And just for good measure, here’s one last video from  MattTheMusketeer , showing the game running in ultra on PC.

And yes, even I’m excited for Titanfall. I know many of you are sceptics…but its just feels right. We’re trying to get a bunch of beta keys to give away to all of you, so hopefully you’ll get to give it a bash yourselves soon.

    “792p, up-scaled to 1080p”

Kinda almost 900p since you have to add 108

Let’s round that up to 800p… what a weird resolution they choose for this game. It’s almost like they didn’t want to use 720p (but managed to settle on something similar but high enough for the PR people to brag)

They look about the same, but nothing and I mean nothing screams out next gen in Titanfall looks like a game from 2012. Just another pew pew with not even any damage to the maps.

I do wonder how much you are making each time you say a negative thing about this hahahaha. And it’s a pretty impressive thing if they do look the same, one is a PC remember, not a console.

I can’t help getting a Quake-multiplayer feel when I watch the videos. It almost looks old school run-and-gun, which I quite like. I would love to see how it compares with the Xbox 360 version, because I bet they can do the same on last gen hardware.

I like the eject mechanics. Looks pretty sweet (if you watch the videos in HD).

Problem is, no matter how good it feels, it still is a twitch based FPS MP only game which draws the COD crowd. I believe it will be fun, a lot even, but not something I will get at launch.

Yeah..I’m with you. I’m not sure the “community” will be awesome. But as long as i have 11 mates to play with, it’ll be ok, right? 😛

I couldn’t care less if it was up scaled from 420p LOL! What’s getting me so excited is all the feedback saying how smooth, fluid, exciting and exhilarating the gameplay is!! Sadly, the chances of getting a Xbox One Beta Code in SA is zero I guess?! ????

I’ve tried… And I simply cannot bring myself to be excited for this game. But I’m most definitely more of a SP player, so perhaps the MP focus is turning me off to this… Whatever it is, this is on my “meh” list and I think I’ll just wait and see from a distance (perhaps something I can pick up at a game sale / bargain bin in the future…).

Source can do 255 players. But you don’t want more than 6v6 in a game like this.

BTW any word on local servers yet?

No local servers. We’re really hoping we get in on the beta, so we can do a report.
We’ve asked EA for keys, so we’ll see what happens.

I REALLY cannot wait for this to be released! Maybe then we can stop hearing about it (obviously after the massive spike in hype when everyone reviews it). I wouldn’t lie, it looks good. But at this stage it is over-hyped (not aimed at Lazygamer – of course, who doesn’t like a nice comparison video). Launches in March, hey? Rather give me InFamous: Second Son, Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes and South Park: Stick of Truth.

Infamous.!!!! Lol are you serious what a pile of rubbish that series has been. Should mention it only runs at 30 fps…..

You do know that 60fps for open world games is unecessary? There is absolutely no reason for these games to run at 60fps. If you look at how gorgeous Second Son looks, 30fps doesn’t matter. In any case, I take gameplay over graphics any day. Lastly, looking at the scores of the InFamous series, it is quite obvious that the series wasn’t rubbish. But yeah, to each his own.

Oh, the game looks good. No doubt. But there are other games I would rather buy, regardless of EA making money from it. That’s just the little thing that stops me from buying it at all.

I get the idea they are aiming to get into the competitive gaming market with Titalfall. They already have something good going with BF4 but I think this will be a nice change.

People are bitching and crying it is not next gen and it is 6v6.

I have an idea this is going to be so much fun and all the sour grapes will just have to move on and stop bitching.

Why do you bitch and moan about something if you do not even care about it.

Their reasoning is exactly why we get shitty MP games these days with gimmicks and unbalanced gameplay.

I’m just going to come out and say it, and this is something a lot of my friends also pointed out. It just doesn’t look that good. It still looks like a damn xbox 360 game. Sure it runs smoothly (60fps with lots of dips) but it looks very last gen. The graphics just don’t wow me.

So what about the xbox 360 version? Is that 420p?

And the hype for this game is just ridiculous.

For those who enjoy this guys breakdowns, Angry Joe has a pretty good rundown of his first experiences w/ Titanfall (plus video while he’s playing). Honestly, this is one of the first videos I’ve seen where I’ve been somewhat intrigued by the game. Maybe I’ll end up grabbing it on PC afterall, we’ll see though, I’m really not a fan of 6v6 limitations, the limitations that the engine represents, and Origin. But, for what it is, is looks like fun.
