This is the future of Xbox One games

Neither of the new consoles has a particularly captivating launch library. The PlayStation 4 ‘s shining star seems to be the twin stick shooter Resogun, while the Xbox One’s exclusive launch titles haven’t been quite as good as people had hoped. Thankfully, it will be getting better.

Here’s a montage of Xbox One games coming within the next year. not all of these are exclusive, mind you – but there are a few that will be bound for Microsoft’s new consoles, and that console alone.

Take a look.

The games contained therein are:

  • Dying Light
  • EA Sports UFC
  • Fable Legends
  • Final Fantasy 15
  • Halo Xbox One
  • Kinect Sports Rivals
  • Kingdom Hearts 3
  • Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes
  • Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare
  • Quantum Break
  • Sunset Overdrive
  • The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  • Titanfall
  • Tom Clancy’s The Division
  • Watch Dogs

Barring a few games I couldn’t give a damn about, that’ is a pretty stellar assortment of great games – and as far as exclusives go, Sunset Overdrive from former Sony bedfellows Insomniac is really starting to look incredibly interesting.

Let’s just hope it’s better than their last game.

I count 6 without garden warfare which is a timed exclusive only! Not bad at all I’d say!

Forza, Halo, Kinect sports and Fable…. Won’t make me buy a Xbone…. Not much of a FPS player so Titanfall just doesn’t grab me. And I have never heard of Sunset Overdrive…
Not that the PS4 can do any better mind you….

I just want to play Watch Dogs, that is about the only game I really want on the “Next Gen” thus far…. Unless Fifa 14 on PS4 is fixed from the PS3 debacle!! Honestly I am not as exited for the new games as I probably should be….

Oddly I have this strange urge to play Zoo Tycoon (it looks like a pretty cool sandbox), but fortunately the urge isn’t strong enough to convince me to get an xbone720.

No mention of Killzone, I guess to make your point a little amnesia was required?

No; Resogun is the highest rated launch game for the PS4, which is my point. Killzone hasn;t been reviewed all that well.

I’m very disillusioned about alot of reviews lately, just feels like so much lobbying goes on in the background that in the end we are looking at an advert.

        My personal feel…

There was an interesting article about how Sony may have torpedoed the chance of the launch titles getting decent reviews because of the short window between the official review event and the launch (about ~2 days). It’s plausible that the games suffered because the reviews became a political tool. Not really that implausible if you think that many of the big sites rushed to get their reviews in (under 2 days), which means the reviewers barely played the games.

SO what you’re getting is an annoyed reviewer having to fly to a review event, then getting barely a few hours on the title, flying back (with their free PS4), but still being annoyed with having to rush to make a deadline.

This could explain why there’s such a disconnect between user reviews of Knack and the first bunch of reviews, and later community reviews. It can also explain why Killzone got nailed as well, because very few of the reviewers would have gotten a chance to play the multiplayer (essentially the biggest part of Killzone).

By the way, I recently watched Angry Joe playing Killzone SF and it amazes me how people struggle with the game. It has no aim assist, which instantly makes it a different kind of FPS (on consoles), it also makes it a very hard online game, which means if you’re not prepared for it, it can be frustrating… . lo’ and behold Angry Joe tried to play it like it was COD and unsurprisingly he got decimated for it. He’s really terrible at the game. You can’t run-and-gun in Killzone and you certainly can’t rely on twitch tactics. Much like Battlefield you have to be mindful of your team, but more importantly it’s even slower with more emphasis on your tools. You have to use your gadgets. If you’re an engineer you need to setup turrets. If you’re a sentry you need to make sure your squad use your mobile spawn points.

Hopefully in December, I’ll write up a second opinion for Master Tim.

Killzone has been poorly received and why should we be surprised? Sequels have been faring poorer and poorer as of late (GTA does not count as a sequel really) and most gamer’s can’t seem to wait for Watchdogs, Titanfall and The Division (my pick). Until then it’s Steam backlog, GTAV and Quakelive to keep me busy. Might also give Revengeance a go on the PS3 (love free-ish shit)

It looks to me like there is definitely some quality titles in Xbox One’s future… but Naughty Dog titles as well as God of War & Killzone will keep me on the Playstation side. Plus… I will be getting Titanfall on my PC, and it will run in a much better res/quality.
