Now here’s something that truly gave me goosebumps. Gaming is a 60 billion dollar industry (larger than the film industry) and the fastest growing spectator sport in the world. Super talented Asians can earn up to six figures as pro gamers, except for Geoff because he hates people and multiplayer online games. I came across this really awesome short film about the life of a pro gamer this morning, and by short I mean six minutes. Check it out.

Watching this video made me realize just how much I love gaming and eSports and reminded me of why I got into it. The film follows a crucial moment in the career of Achala “Spachala” Mataraaratchi, a pro gamer playing for one of Australia’s premier eSports organizations – Exile5.

The film was created by Adam Kotek, former Exile5 member, as a part of his final work for university and made it to the top 50 at Tropfest, Australia’s most prestigious short film festival.

Oh, to be in a country where the idolise the gamer, where woman wantonly throw themselves at champions, where soft drink floweth, and burgers are plentiful. Cries.
