Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the shadows arrives this winter

TMNT

Aw yeah, who’s ready for a slice of nostalgia that is mixed with half-shell jokes and pizza puns? Just me? Okay then. Activision has been working on a new Turtles game starring the latest incarnation of the cult classic teenaged turtle shinobi, for a while now. And now, the Krang is finally out of the really strangely dressed robot bodybuilder and I have no idea where this train of thought is going. Damn you eighties cartoons!

According to DigitalSpy, Mushroom Men and Ghostbusters Wii developer Red Fly Studios is behind the latest game, which will be a downloadable titlefor PC, Playstation Network and Xbox Live Arcade. And it doesn’t look half bad for a downloadable game. Third person brawling is a genre that I’m perhaps a tad too comfortable with, and the overall art style looks fun and frantic. Unfortunately, it looks like you won’t get to play as my favourite Turtle, Shredder, so I’ll just have to settle for Donatello instead. Ah, remember those NES days when he his staff was amazing? Wait, that came out wrong…

Out of the Shadows will also have four player co-op, and is the first game in a trilogy that Activision is planning.

Katana FTW! I agree, however, a lone unstable bad-ass with an explosive temperament and ninja skills to match beats
          Denholm
          Reynholm anyday …

      • Sir Captain Rincethis

        What you said!

    • Deon Steyn

Donatello, he’s the smartest and a ninja. Plus he ruled on the NES in their first game.

      • Admiral Chief Erwin

Staff can poke and hurt, but Katana WILL KILL :P

Truth be told I love em all, just used to pretend to be Leo as a kid

Turtles on the nes? The one with the famous underwater level? That game was impossible…

        • Sir Captain Rincethis

Remember that level, there was a bit you had to go up, and to the left, and no matter what happened I always hit some damn thing that would kill me!

          • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matewis-Jubilai/100002325722170 Matewis Jubilai

The technodrome in the end has the worst parts. I do not have an idea how you are supposed to beat it without the ‘save state’ function of an emulator. Specifically the conveyor belts bit…

          • Sir Captain Rincethis

I actually finished the game when it was on the nes. The HOURS sunk into that bastard. Almost as bad as Battletoads… THE HORROR! THE HORROR!

        • Eric Viljoen

I actually think you might be confused with Battletoads’ underwater level

  • Deon Steyn

So according to the trailer they traded in their weapons for cans of paint?

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matewis-Jubilai/100002325722170 Matewis Jubilai

What happened to their faces? Btw does anybody remember the turtle comics that were in the huisgenoot yeeeeaaars ago? Did that series have a name? I would really like to read them again, in english preferably… I remember Shredder shrunk them at one point and they fought a sewer snake while floating on a piece of soap. In fact they fed the soap to the snake.

    • Admiral Chief Erwin

      Ja, remember those, bloody epic!

    • Major Commodore 64 Darryn B

I think that those may have been from the Archie Comics line of TMNT comics.

      • http://www.facebook.com/people/Matewis-Jubilai/100002325722170 Matewis Jubilai

Great! Lets see if I can get a hold of them

        • Weerwolf

Haha, I actually had a whole bound collection of them. Saw them last year sometime at my parent’s house. No idea where they are now. All of them were afrikaans though
