South Park:The Stick of Truth– ‘I hope we don’t get a f–king 4’

South-Park-The-Stick-of-Truth

I’ve been a fan of South Park since the show started, before it even made it to South Africa. I’m not joking, as I remember one cold December in 1997 to sit down and watch a bootleg VHS of the first few episodes. Naturally, it was mentally-scarring stuff for a kid, but in a  good way. Many seasons and games later, South Park is back with a brand new video game experience. And I’m kind of keen to try it out.

Here’s the latest video for the upcoming South Park: The Stick of Truth which describes just how the game got started, from Matt Stone and Trey Parker fleshing the concept out, through to Obsidian taking up the challenge of rendering the game and it’s Nagasaki fart attacks.

Oh, and  a word of caution about that video: It may contain a brief scene where Randy Marsh is having his ass jack-hammered by an alien probing device like the eToll website on any day of the week.

South Park: The Stick of Truth was originally supposed to debut back in November of the year of our lord 2013, but got pushed back to early March 2014 instead. I can respect that authoritah, especially when the show managed to do what most video games these days can’t:

Have a sense of humour and mock itself and it’s long development time in the epic Black Friday trilogy of episodes from last year, that saw Xbox One and PlayStation 4 fanboys go head to head in an epic battle with many, many Game of Thrones references.

I’m keen to see it too, looks like fun. Not enough games with silly humour.

Last game I played with very decent silly humor was The Bard’s Tale.

That game was funny, especially the songs. Have you ever checked out the Deathspank games?

I loved how the Bard would fight with the narrator and stuff.

“December in 1997 to sit down and watch a bootleg VHS”

Around the same time I was experiencing South Park as my first digital bootleg in RealPlayer, the quality was awful (120p I think) but South Park Awesomeness was worth it.
