SimCity traffic problems are being repaired

I’ve been playing a lot of SimCity recently but I’m obviously not very good as I haven’t yet run into this major traffic problem that is getting more and more coverage. But if you are good and having problems then I have some good news.

According to a new blog post, picked up by PCGamer, the developers are currently testing a new patch that will stop your Sims always taking the shortest route from A to B and to rather check for the less congested routes that would end up being quicker.

There is a quick video demonstrating the change and you can see it definitely makes a massive difference, though I’m not sure why the cars didn’t take the first road?

It’s nice to see EA fixing these issues but you would think they would have thought of this before. It’s quite natural to take a longer but faster route in real life. It’s pretty much why highways were invented really.

I had some traffic problems last night which I could resolve by dumping a bus depot right at the problematic intersection which solved 90% of the problems. So you can try that until this patch comes out.

They are also patching the way emergency services work, allowing them to ride on the wrong side of the road and to not clump together as well.

Glad to hear they are fixing up some of this stuff. Last night I watched about 5 full garbage trucks drive around in circles for several minutes before finally seeming to remember which way the garbage dump was…

Glad to see they are working on these things. I wonder if this affects the service agent AI as well.

Excellent question. They don’t even make sense in this case…

It’s the supporters of the Empire. They don’t like anything that Wookiees have to say. Racist bastards. 🙁

Where is the guy in the 4×4 who takes the dirt road because that’s what real men do?

Luckily they don’t have SA taxis, that would cock up ALL traffic

      haha

this morning, I was stuck in a single lane two way road where the taxis decided to make it a 4 lane one way road.

      Took my 20minutes to travel 1km ….

When I was young and ignorant I decided to drive from Gtown to Durban through Umtata on the last Friday of a month at 3 PM. I was in the turning lane at a traffic light with an island on my left and the curb on my right and the taxi in front of me stopped, the driver and 18 passengers proceeded to get out and walk into the local bottle store with a 100m long queue and go shopping for oven an hour. I just sat not moving for 1 hour because of that fuckhead. If I had a gun I would of killed someone.

          Basic Umtata traffic rules:
Only drive next to the curb if you plan to stop.
Only stop if plan to get out of your vehicle.

Do not worry about hitting a traffic light, they are made of plastic and will be replaced Sunday evening.

          Obey the speed limit.

Watch out for the f&*(^&^* speed bump on the 120km/h road on your way to Lusikisiki.

Looking good! Now, just fix the ghost population problem, and then we are going somewhere!

What I think would solve the traffic issues is a subway system. But Gavin already covered that in his review. Make it happen EA!
