Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer spices up Far Cry 4’s soundtrack

I’m a sucker for a good gaming soundtrack. I often whip one one while I’m working, especially if it features a soothing orchestral backing. Journey and |The Last of Us are usually at the top of my list, not giving much room for anyone else on most days. But considering whose scoring Far Cry 4, I may have to make an exception.

That’s because Ubisoft’s upcoming shooter will have it’s score composed by a former Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer. So not the guy that looks a lot like Will Farrell. Cliff Martinez, and occasional drummer for the band, will make his first full gaming score debut with Far Cry 4.

That’s not to say he hasn’t done games before. Martinez worked on the intro track for EA’s not-so-stellar Spore a few years ago, but hasn’t really produced anything else in the gaming sphere. He did, however, produce the score for the amazing film, Drive. If you’ve watched it, and know just how atmospheric and well composed the soundtrack was,  then you’ll probably know why this is such exciting news for Far Cry 4.

If you’re a fan of the soundtracks behind the games you play then you may want to give Far Cry 4’s one a listen. The entire thing is up for digital download today, with a 2-CD set coming in December. If you’re not that much of a backing music kind of guy or girl, then maybe this latest CGI trailer for the game is more to your fancy.

Even if it’s just for shooting helicopters while skydiving in snow-capped mountain ranges. Did I mention I’m really excited for Far Cry 4?

Fun Fact: Did you know one of the characters in Chrono Trigger named Flea was named after the bassist of Red Hot Chilli Peppers?

Precisely, now tell me you do not want to ride into an enemy outpost/base standing on the neck of of an elephant wearing a gam white hoodie, elephants ear in one hand and grabbing your crotch with the other hand on the tune of Baby’s On Fire.
