Official 17 minute Battlefield 4 Gameplay Trailer

Battlefield4

we posted that leaked trailer earlier this morning which has gotten all the juices flowing for a full HD Battlefield 4 gameplay footage and thankfully EA have obliged.

The only problem is that at the time of writing that video isn’t released yet, so I can’t say anything about it but what I can do is use my years of experience to guess.

There will be loud bangs, baysplosions, tons of guns, manly military talk and tanks… lots of tanks.

Also according to the teaser trailer we are going to be having some sea battles of some sort and I fully expect to see realistic destruction, team work, huge maps and some amazing sniping skills.

Let’s see how close I get, the video will be below as soon as we see the embed code arrive.

Panic, EA dropped the trailer earlier to fight the leaks… here it is right now

    Looking good.

The amount of finer detail in this trailer is just fantastic. At least we know what we see here we will get in multiplayer too.

Also… was that guy’s leg made of butter or is that the new SE Rambo knife?

He did say in the trailer that his bones were crushed to powder; a decently sharp knife would have no real trouble with a knee sans bone.

All looks like real life. I would love to see a Fallujah game using this engine. Just think of all that helmet cam footage that they can use. Some of it is on Youtube and gives Black Hawk Down a run for its money.

REAL LIFE with REAL GRAPHICS. EA already have very authentic RADIO VOICE PROCEDURE and sound effects thanks to getting Andy Mc Nab (AKA HEAT BANK ROBBERY) to advise.

Its getting there but we all know that 2 thirds of the production values are pumped into on-line play.

Well, let’s be fair. Battlefield is focused on almost pure online play. But one can hold out for the hope that they give some proper love to the SP portion for a change

I would be happy if the single player was 90 minutes long but no cut and paste. Just set piece after set piece.

It makes DIE HARDER ANOTHER DAY look like the Telly Tubbies.

You see that’s where my issue comes in. If it’s only 90 minutes then I am paying premium price for only 90minutes of gameplay.

Unlike most I cannot really enjoy the online portion of this game. My 3G connection just simply isn’t good enough and I can’t afford ADSL as it is. So I really need the SP to be longer in all honesty before I will consider purchasing 🙁

Ok, this honestly looks like the SP could actually be good for a change. Let’s just hope it isn’t too short. As it always is.

I am going to give the benefit of the doubt. I enjoyed the SP in BF3. Nothing to write home about but it was entertaining most of the times. Dont ask me what the story was about though, something about a nuke and Russians and being interviewed or something.
Hopefully there is story which binds you a bit better than BF3. More emotions and less bang-bang-boom-boom.

Think EA forced Dice hand in so many of the direction chooses during the SP production. It felt exactly like a COD game too me. Just as unmemorable and stale as most military shooters out in recent years. Lets hope EA learned out of the feedback on BF3 SP, though I doubt it, and let DICE make the best game they can.

I absolutely agree, I despised the soulless SP (while I’ve always lauded the MP), but BF3 tried to be COD, when it should have done its own thing. i.e. Find its own legs.

            March 27, 2013 at 08:56

Exactly, I think BF3 tried to showcase the engine in the SP, but then tried to tie all the setpieces together with one of the lamest stories ever. I mean, Warfighter’s storyline was more emotional and raw, because it put the characters first (except for the cleric, which I still think was a huge missed opportunity).

You don’t buy a Battlefield game for the SP campaign. Its the epic MP game play and maps and guns and vehicles etc. Its like buying a new Ferrari and complaining that there is not enough cup holders. You get the car for the drive.

For all that I care they can drop it all together, stop wasting time with that. That will give the developers more time and resources to polish off the MP experience and get the game out quicker.

        March 27, 2013 at 09:13

I know. Hence why I don’t buy BF in general. Not because I don’t think it’s great. It’s just interwebz limitations.

However, it’s a huge missed opportunity to draw some extra players to the game if the SP is bad. If you can draw the SP guys in and even get just a 10% conversion on those guys to switch over to the MP because they want more, then you have won and have grown a dedicated fan base.

But that will not happen if the SP guys don’t have something to enjoy at first because they would never buy the game otherwise.

So yea, there are things to consider such as development cost for the SP portion with voice actors, story writers etc, but I think the benefits would far outweigh the drawbacks of making sure both aspects are fantastic.

Geoff broke the news to me on Skype, while I was sipping some coffee. I immediately dropped everything, told the boss to eat my shoes (aka faked a stomach bug), thus skipping a meeting, and quickly popped onto LG to say:

“The 17 minute sneak preview of the single player campaign had more soul than the whole 5-6 hour campaign of Battlefield 3. I want this for PS4.. Daddy Jim needs to save some coins… No more MCDONALDS!! ALL MONEY MUST GO INTO THE GAMING FUND.”

I ended the match 39/4. I actually felt bad for those that fell before my boom stick…

Yeah sorry that’s BF 3.5, not as big a jump as I would expect from a new engine.

Remember Bad Company 1 to 2 both used Frostbite 1 the later was frostbite 2.0. BF3 runs Frostbite 2 and the jump was mad. Looking at this it seems more inline with the jump from bad company 1 to 2.

Also all that hype about the destruction engine being more like what Bad company was like that BF3, not seeing that either.

Will keep watching to see what comes of it, but so far not too overly impressed with it. Better, but not “next Gen” better.
