Killzone Shadow Fall looks mind blowing

We all know the PlayStation 4 was announced last night and we are covering all that goodness in other posts but one of the games shown last night really does deserve its own post. Killzone Shadow Fall was showcased and it looks absolutely mind blowing.

Unless Sony were playing with a bit of smoke and mirrors, which I really hope they weren’t, Killzone Shadow Fall was played live onstage and then the resulting video was uploaded directly to Facebook using the new integrated features of the PlayStation 4.

And here it is

The first thoughts when watching the video is how incredible the graphics are and the virtual seamless move from cut scene to gameplay is fantastic to behold.

The lighting, dust particles and transparency effects really blew my mind. But I think possibly the most exciting aspect was the amount of action that the PlayStation 4 appeared to be handle on screen at one time. There is so much detail and all of it appears to be rendered in real time without any hassles what so ever.

If this is an example of what we can expect with the PlayStation 4 then we are in for a real treat with the next generation and you can now see why they were happy to show their hand early. I don’t know if Microsoft are prepared to go up against this.

Here are some screengrabs from the video, obviously they are not HD but that’s what you get from Facebook screen grabs

Even though they are screengrabs just look how awesome they are.

I cannot wait to get my hands on this title when it releases later this year (I hope)

Although only seeing a short segment, its nice that you have some verticality, the battle rifle/sniper rifle reminds me of Republic Commando and the DC17m.

All in all, I am really impressed.

Games are glorified Tech-Demos these days, don’t forget that, except Far Cry 3, that was awesome… on pc…

Is anyone else just looking at this going techdemo, they didn’t even reveal the actual PS4 this morning, so this could be a video running on a PC in the back for all you know. Until it’s actually released rather not fall for the hype.

Was anyone else bored to tears by that demo? Granted, kudos to them for actually showing gameplay and not just some irrelevant pre-rendered cinematic, and I have to say it looks very pretty, some next-gen horsepower on show.

The future city looks pretty stunning in the flyover, but the whole thing after the explosion just goes brown and it’s just such generic shooter stuff. Run, iron sight, shoot, reload, run around a bit more, shoot, shoot, knife a space nazi. Granted, this stuff is usually more fun to play than to watch, but if you look at what Watch Dogs is offering in terms of “next gen gameplay”, this hardly seems like something I’d want to give pride of place at my next-gen console launch.

I just felt bored watching the demo. I could have been watching any first person shooter made in the last 10 years if not for the shiny graphics, which ceased to look interesting when they got all brown and burny and filled with nazis. I guess I just expected more. Some sort of tactical flexibility. Some sort of interesting weapon. Some sort of interesting set piece. The demo gave me none of that. It just looked like more Call of Duty in (sort of) space.

Not that impressed by the graphics, I’ve seen better on the PS3. I’m not hating just stating my experience. Killzone has so much potential, but as a single player game it doesn’t deliver. My multiplayer experiences are awesome however.

It’s not a big enough jump in terms of graphical quality from the PS3, then again it’s is a GEN1 PS4 game, and as developers improve their skills with the dev kits, we’ll get to see something better than what is currently being shown. Remember how amazing KZ3 looked in the previews but then wasn’t as good-looking when it got to retail…. Just saying. So back to your question see below :

Halo 4 (I know this is on xbox but it still looks good)

        Heavy Rain

        Uncharted 3

        Wipeout HD Fury

        Gran Turismo 5

So stop being a damn Fanboy, and be an objective gamer for once in your life.

console gamers have been starved too long of good graphics to call this mindblowing. It is good though but alot like Crysis 3 at medium on PC i would say
