Over the past few weeks we’ve all been amazed at the massive improvement in graphics that Rockstar has shoved into their Xbox One and PS4 versions of Grand Theft Auto V and the early videos and screenshots showed a near parity between the Xbox One version and the PS4, however it’s not true.
Now that the game is out people have been able to take a deeper dive into the experience and the inconsistencies between the two versions have started to become more noticeable. The biggest difference appears to be in the rendering of the foliage in the living world of Lost Santos and its surrounds. You can see the difference quite easily here.
There are many other examples but the basic idea is that the PlayStation 4 version is simply superior at rendering more foliage and doesn’t fall behind the Xbox One version in any other manner so if you are looking for the very best looking experience and don’t want to wait for the PC version then the decision is quite clear. For some extra detail we’ll even throw in a free video from the graphic comparison guys themselves, Digital Foundry.
So the crux of the story is to avoid the Xbox One version right?
Well no, the Xbox One version is still a huge leap in comparison to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions and missing a few plants is not going to make the game any less enjoyable to play. If you are lucky enough to own both current consoles then head to the PS4 for this one but don’t worry if you don’t.
The Xbox One version is still more than pretty enough to really enjoy.

Yup, the fun of the 12am launch is dead.
When I was 14 I worked a Summer Job to save enough money for a 16bit Nintendo and Mario World.
The smile on my face when I walked out of that store was next to nothing. I got home, plugged it in and pressed PLAY. 🙂 🙂 🙂
The kids today cant do that anymore, instead Mario World would have been a broken mess that required a 20gig patch and the Nintendo 16 Bit would need Internet activation after a couple of days downloading Social Media updates and shit.
The Golden Age (FUN) is dead. I feel sorry for the kids today. Imagine opening your present on XMAS morning but all you can do is look at the box and with you were back home where you can use your internet to make the stupid thing work. Modern gaming sucks.

I’m just going on the reports about Unity, but I’m happy if it’s not broken your end. I’m playing FC4 at the moment (loving it) but even there you can see the game requires polish. There’s places where trees and grass floats in the air near a ledge or vehicles just disappears of the road.
Thing is they have a deadline and the game launches at that deadline come hell or high water. Any issues can be patched later.

The biggest difference is the environment. The ps4 version has a lot more detail than the xbox one. I haven’t noticed any frame drops between the two which is a plus on each console. The sky also looks better in the ps4 version. So basically it comes down to it looks prettier on the ps4. Time will tell on which console it plays better but Sony won the visuals.

It depends on the game and the Dev. Some games are more demanding than others and some devs either aren’t experienced enough or aren’t willing to put the extra effort into one platform over the other or perhaps the Dev simply didn’t have the resources.

I think people who deny the difference in picture quality, textures, and overall gameplay just don’t want to admit the Xbox One has a poor GPU. Because they spent money on it, much like defending your child even though you know he messed up. If they do make a game look good such as Ryse SOR, it’s because they scale everything down and use a lower resolution. Actually if you want to get technical, both systems are underpowered. Just the Xbox One more so. I’ve played both side by side and I can tell a difference. Some “substantial” as they say and some not. But if you want “next gen” as they call it, you want it all, not just fast RAM, a good processor or GPU, but the whole package. At this moment in time, as far as “games” go the PS4 is far ahead. Even though I hate the controller and the fact there is no DNLA allowance yet. Even a game like Forza Horizon 2 was just not enjoyable to me, I played the demo and thought, wow really? This is it? This BARELY looks better than Forza 4, and even 3 wasn’t far behind. As developers said the gap/leap between last gen and current would be much. And it’s NOT. I refuse to get another system until I see something that makes my Jaw hit the floor. When that happens, I’ll pick it up, put it back on my face, and get one. When they are about 299$. Case closed.

Wii U is even ahead in sales than XB1….we dont need articles like this to tell us what we already knew…..XB1 has worse hardware than PS4. PS4 has better hardware hence better specs….XB1 is a waste of money…even if Microsoft PAID ME to have a XB1, I would still say no.
