Evolve’s story trailer sets the stakes high

Sometimes it’s really easy to forget that multiplayer games are actually wrapped up in a ton of fascinating lore. It’s not always the main focus due to the lack of a dedicated “campaign”, but there’s usually enough going on around you to make you believe that your lengthy multiplayer sessions actually carry some weight. Evolve is no different, and being a Hunter has never been this important.

Unlike every other Evolve trailer we’ve seen, this latest one focuses purely on story. And that’s both great and odd at the same time, since Evolve won’t actually have a proper single-player mode.

What it does have is some interesting backstory. Seems like us pesky humans have set up colonies on distant planets without actually checking what wildlife exists around them. For the most part that seemed to be just fine, up until massive creatures like the Goliath and the Kraken appear and start wiping out everything that moves around them.

So while humanity is high-tailing it out of there, you’re sent in to tame the creatures and put them down. That gives your hunting escapades a little more narrative weight, rather than just being sports-like hunting trips set in the distant future. There’re better, more menacing looks at the two monsters that Turtle Rock have already revealed, and possibly glimpses at the third one they’re still hiding behind a curtain.

Ultimately, it’s another great trailer for a game I absolutely can’t get enough of. Evolve is out on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in February next year, with an Xbox-only beta taking place in January.

  1. Story + evolve + Feb 2015 = The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3 is coming. Don’t waste your money on Evolve shit.

    Don’t support DRM.

I have started by subscribing to some mods. Will look into it in more detail tonight. Boob physics are priority.

If you want to mod skyrim seriously then get yourself registered on nexus skyrim and use this guide http://wiki.step-project.com/STEP:2.2.9 It’ll optimize your skyrim and give you all the necessary info on modding it to perfection. Lastly if I’m not mistaken ENB is in that guide, if not then get yourself ENB.

Nothing, he just stated that Witcher is going to come out the same month as Evolve and Witcher will eat all your time leaving none for poor ol Evolve.

Apparently not. He said ‘evolve’ not Evolve. He also said Feb 2015, so not much for consistent 😛

If this game is continuously supported by the devs like Titanfall then it will easily be a hit on the long run.

I have a suspicion this game is going to rock so many people. I know I look forward to playing it with some mates, only thing I see as being an issue is fighting for who wants to be the monster!

Bloodborne kindly moved itself to March from February 2015. I don’t know what is wrong with Evolve and now wanting to promote a story and campaign, like we don’t know about The Witcher 3 .
