EA Sports hit the mark with their FIFA 15 announcement

As you may or may not know I’m a huge football fan. And to our American readers, no I don’t mean the game where you pad yourselves up more than a Kardashian’s butt and then run at each other. I’m talking about the real football, the beautiful game that Liverpool football club epitomised last season in the British Premier League.

And as such I understand why FIFA needs to be an annual release. Sure they could just send out new squad DLC but what about the new teams that arrive? The new characters who appear and the way the game changes on a yearly basis.

Last year the focus was all about ball control and technique but this year EA Sports’ main push is about feeling. The way the game makes us all feel and dream and they are now bringing that into the experience in a bigger way. First take a look at the highly emotional trailer showcased at the EA event last night.

Okay so that’s all good and well but what actually have they done to change the game?

Well let me break it down for you.

Emotional Intelligence

Your players have, for the first time, emotion in the game. If that bumbling shrek Rooney makes yet another bad tackle on your player he will remember it and react differently around him when they are close. There are over 600 new emotional reactions added to the game that will be showcased when you are tackled badly, miss a sitter or score that incredible over the head scissor kick.

Dynamic Match Representation

EA Sports has promised to make the match day experience even better with custom chants, crowds and experiences depending on who, where and when you are playing.  But it’s not just the stadiums and fans who will change, they are also promising side-line antics and massive player celebrations for those crucial, title-changing moments.

Team Tactics

Team Tactics are being honed in FIFA 15 with some brand new automated options that you are going to see your opponents trot out depending on how the game is going. They could either start seeing West Ham banging the long balls up front or Manchester United pointlessly pinging balls into the mixer in a useless attempt to score against lowly opposition.

Or you could see Chelsea absolutely ruining the beautiful game by parking two buses and then time wasting over at the corner flags for eternity. Love it or hate it these tactics, and many more, are part and parcel of the game and I for one would love to accidentally side-line the Chelsea player who isn’t playing the game the proper way.

Better Visuals and Better Pitches

And last but not least is the fact that they have obviously once again improved the visuals all around with more players being totally modelled.

But this year they are bringing something special into the game with realistic pitches that wear down over the 90 minutes. Apparently my midfielders are going to be covered in green grass marks from their constant sliding and one of the most exciting things ever announced.. corner flag physics.

Okay that’s not exciting, but is exciting is the way the goal posts will react to being smashed with a driving shot giving you that real immersive feeling all of us fans want.

All in all the additions to FIFA 15 will easily ensure it stays as the top experience for Football fans for the next year and honestly I can’t see them ever being caught at this rate.

We played the best brand of football is what the man is trying to say. If you think boring then you are not thinking about Liverpool of the 2013/2014 season!! We had a OK fine so you scored two goals, we will just have to score 3 attitude which is rare in football!

    So, to summarize:
    – Sims styled facial expressions for players
    – Upgraded version of fish AI added to crowds.
    – More crowd sound tracks.
    – Slightly destructible environments.
    – Improved team AI.
    – Improved graphics.

Pretty sure the upgraded version of fish AI added to crowds and more crowd sound tracks would cover that.

Yes a Fifa 15 article!! Praise be to the beautiful game and the developers of this wonderful game!! I will get this, but a month after release this time!! Catch me once with a broken game that has to be fixed with a patch and never again brother!! I hope this time the guys and gals who review Fifa will do it not on its history but rather on the game they are playing!! Fifa 14 should have had a 60% score if that high, it was as big a cock up as BF4!!

The problem with reviewing FIFA is that the game is so huge it really is an impossible task.. What do you review, the offline tournaments, leagues, training etc.. or the online leagues or teammodes. What about the card game side.. it’s just too big.

But that is just what I have been saying for almost a year now!! Reviews should be separated between online and offline!! Offline Fifa 14 would have been as good as Fifa 13, but online it was a complete and utter joke!! The long ball over the top from a kick off was the worst mistake in football games history!!
I really think you guys should brake it up in two parts, and not just this game but something like COD too. All games that have as many players enjoying the online parts as the offline parts should be two reviews!!

By that logic there’s really no need to even look at the offline part of CoD.

Exactly!!!! But that 2-3 hour offline part is what some people buy the game for, so give them a review on it! Not on its length but on how good it is!!

          • Kensei Seraph

            June 10, 2014 at 12:50

Well at least it won’t take that long to do the review and the time saved could be spent on games like FIFA that need it.

            June 10, 2014 at 12:56

we normally do split COD. Same review but we make the very obvious difference

          June 10, 2014 at 12:56

The problem comes in when the reviewer isn’t very good at the game online. It’s so hard when these tricks only get picked up when the majority jump in…

I definitely agree with what you are saying but I’m just stuck on how to resolve it

Let me write you a small article on what is wrong with the online after two weeks of playing it. I have put in some mind boggling times on Fifa 14 online. And you can change it to make sense, as I am a terrible writer. As you may remember with my attempt at writing a review on Rugby Challenge 2 which I sent to you!!
I just feel that EA got a very soft tap over the fingers by the reviewers of Fifa 14 and they should have been slated, as the gamers rightly did!! I broke a window in my house with my PS3 remote thanks to Fifa 14 online…. It cost me more to replace the window than the game cost me…..

          • Kensei Seraph

            June 10, 2014 at 13:14

That could be a good way to do it.

Let the readers who are willing to write a review for a game that Lazygamer are unable to review (for whatever reason) and if it’s good and they have some kind of experience in that game (you don’t exactly want people to write a review for a game they’ve never played) then post it under the title Reader Review: [Game Name].
Under the reviewer section you can put whatever name they prefer to use and their experience with the game so that others can judge how trustworthy the review actually is.

            June 10, 2014 at 13:32

That is what I was thinking!! I love me some Fifa online, and I think I can tell you what I hate about it or what I love about it!! but yeah it is up to the big man!!

True that GM. Never trust Americans to give you a sober real football review. They don’t know the game.

I’m starting to wonder if we’re supposed to be taunting people (Pieter Kruger on the ‘Who “won” and who “lost” E3?’ article) and if there are people who are closet M’s and want to be taunted.

“the beautiful game that Liverpool football club epitomised last season in the British Premier League.”

You mean the “rush them in the first half, do fuck all in the second half” game? Statistically, if only the second half of a game counted, Man Utd would have been fifth and Liverpool 9th. Conversely, if only the first half counted, Man Utd would have been 11th and Liverpool first.

    #PERSPECTIVE.
