Battle Hardened Gamers (BHG) LAN plans to end the year off in style

That’s correct, the competitive year is drawing to a close  – and gosh, what a year it has been. We’ve seen more online and offline competitions than ever before. Some are old and some are new, but what’s better than ending off the year with one final showdown at the Battle Hardened Gamers LAN in Johannesburg? BHG invites top teams from Dota 2, Battlefield 4 and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to once again see who will end the year off as LAN champions. Below you can find out all you need to know about BHG, from competing, to spectating and of course just heading out to LAN with your mates.

Dates and Entrance

Please note that a pre-booking is required to attend the LAN event.  Seats are limited so please book in advance.

The LAN kicks off on December 11th and will conclude on the 13th. It will begin at 18:00 on the Friday and end at 18:00 on the Sunday, giving attendees a full weekend of gaming.

A weekend pass will cost you R250 and this gives you:

  • Entrance to the event
  • Dedicated seating (includes table, chair, LAN point and power)
  • Entrance to LAN tournaments
  • Prize support for the LAN tournament
  • Use of Virgin Active facilities

Spectator entrance is R60 and this will give you entrance to the event so you can support your friends. Spectators will be allowed in on Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th for the entirety of the event with doors opening at 09:00 AM.

If you wish to enter any of the tournaments all you need to do is mail mandy@exceptional-events.co.za wit the following details:

  • Team Name:
  • List of players including name, surname, age and gamer tag.
  • Clear indication of captain within the team.

Please note: Teams confirmed for registration (paid-for tickets) will be listed on the tournament hosting website. When registering, players must send the proof of payment.

For those who can’t attend or be bothered to put on pants for the day, you can also watch it in the comfort of your own home. nAvTV is organizing the stream for CS:GO over here and viewers can also track the tournament on CS:GO Lounge.

LAN Venue

BHG will be taking place at the Vodacom World Events center in Midrand Johannesburg, a venue renowned for it’s five-star events facilities. The venue will be split into three sections: The LAN area where the casual or “less competitive” gamers and competitors can set up, play games against each other and network. The breakaway area where gamers can take their much needed breaks, and possibly sleep IF they choose to do so. Finally a spectator area which will be fitted with two big screens where you can watch the competition unfolding in the LAN area. Refreshments will be available for purchase from inside the venue, courtesy of Vodacom.

Connectivity will be provided from Vodacom which promises to be cable of sustaining the LAN as well as allowing the competitors to play online with preferable low latencies. Players will be allowed to update their Steam and Origin games, but torrenting is prohibited. D-Link have come on board to insure the gamers stay connected with the latest in their gaming router range as D-Link have shown interest in competitive gaming in South Africa.

BHG have partnered up with Virgin Active Vodaworld who have kindly opened their shower facilities for gamers who present their BHG passes. All gamers who wishto make use of the facilities will gain free access to the by showing their LAN passes, ID and signing the visitors register.

SteelSeries, MSI and Evetech have arranged for 10 awesome gaming PC’s to showcase Call of Duty-Black Ops 3 for spectators, LAN ticket holders and members of the public to experience this brilliant action packed shooter from Activision in a 5 vs 5 PC setting. Steelseries will be hosting a competition to allow all attendees to enter a draw for a chance to win SteelSeries 9H Gaming Headset.

Prizes

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive:

  • R20 000 cash provided by MSI and SteelSeries

Battlefield 4:

  • R10 000 in cash vouchers provided by Gigabyte

Dota 2:

  • R5 000 winner takes all.

There are also spot prizes up for grabs: Roccat Kone Pure for the best PC Build Competition. Roccat Apuri Active USB with Mouse Bungee for Early Bird registration, ZA Gamer gift vouchers, T-shirts and more.
