Remember PlayStation 3 exclusive Team Ico title The Last Guardian? It’s ok if you don’t – because the team that brought you ICO and Shadow of the Colossus has been rather quiet about the game that wowed just about everybody at E3 all the way back in 2009. It’s been months since we heard anything apart from the departure of team lead Fumito Ueda. He’s still working on the game in a freelance capacity, and promises there’ll be news to share.

I hope you weren't planning on playing The Last Guardian anytime soon because it's just been delayed, no kidding. "That's OK" you tell me, "I'll be busy playing through the Team ICO HD collection" anyways. Yeah... about that as well...
Creative director Fumito Ueda has some bad news, but hopes you don't beat him to death for it.
Darling readers, I’m not entirely sure how to break this news to you, but I’ll do it as gently as I can. You may need to sit down for this: we could have to wait until next year for the ICO and Shadow of the Colossus HD collection.
According to online retail giant Amazon.com, a new release schedule has the anticipated collection marked with a tentative “2012†instead of April 2011. This news comes from G4, but DiedAgain.com also points out another possibility: if the HD collection has been delayed, does this mean that The Last Guardian has been pushed back as well?
Gamersmint has posted a collection of new details on Team ICO’s upcoming PlayStation 3 exclusive, The Last Guardian. Very little is known about this game and only a few new details are provided in the French PSM3 article.
The article has been translated and the best bits have been condensed into a list for all us impatient English speakers. The team behind PSM3 experienced hands-on time with the game and were able to play through the first chapter. During that time, according to Gamersmint, what struck the team the most was the “emotional interaction†between the little boy (who players control) and the massive companion known as Torico (it was initially called Trico, so either there has been a change or something has become mixed up in translation).
Every time news on this game surfaces, I squeeee like a little girl. Which is quite apt because the protagonist for Team ICO’s upcoming game used to be just that: a little girl.
In an interview with PSM3, Fumito Ueda (head of Team ICO) discussed the original design decisions behind the lead character, which started off as a young girl. Owing to various design concerns, that character changed to the young boy that we all know so well from the game’s trailers.
Sony have been updating some of the classics from the previous generation to look much shiner on current hardware. Notable releases like the God of War Collection, the upcoming re-mastered versions of Ico and Shadow of the Colossus and the 3d-enabled Sly Cooper collection. They’re great, especially in the case of the Team Ico collection, allowing newer gamers to experience absolute gems they’d otherwise miss.
Microsoft doesn’t think it’s too important to update their back catalogue though, so if you’re keen on HD remakes of classic Xbox games like..umm..Halo and errr…ummm Halo 2, you’re pretty much SOL.
Ok, ok I know this is the third piece of Team ICO news I’ve posted this week, but months go by without a peep from them... months!  Consequently I’m going to pounce on any scrap of information that is nonchalantly flung out from the Japanese designers.
Information like this: we have a release date for The Last Guardian! Sadly it’s not a pretty release date: we’re going to have to wait until the “holidays 2011â€. That’s more than a year away. On the bright side: there is a ton of new games arriving to keep us occupied between now and Christmas next year. And on the even brighter bright side, it’ll give those who haven’t played Shadow of the Colossus or ICO a good few months to play through each before diving into the newest title from Team ICO.
[Ed : there's a new TGS trailer for the game, showing just how incredibly beautiful it is. Find it after the jump]
We reported a few days ago that Wallmart had posted the strongly rumoured hi-def and repackaged Team ICO collection as available for pre-order. Sony has now confirmed the remastered collection via the Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu. To be honest, this isn’t really that big of a surprise seeing as the rumours of the collection have been plentiful over the last few months. It is, however, fantastic news all the same.
Kotaku is reporting that a Swedish game retailer has posted the supposed box art for the Team ICO collection. You can see it for yourself after the jump.
Team ICO, the amazing development studio behind ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, has a lot of fans. Nearly all of those fans have been clamouring for an HD re-release for both of these PlayStation 2 gems. Sony did that for God of War I and God of War II so it seems likely that they’ll give the go-ahead for this.
The rumours of an HD Team ICO collection have been doing the rounds for a while now, but Wallmart may have just let the surprise slip: the Team ICO collection is available for pre-order with a release date of 01 April 2011.
There is no boxart up as yet, but you can check the listing here. Having never owned a PlayStation 2, I specifically hunted around for months to try and find a backwards compatible PlayStation 3 just so I could play Shadow of the Colossus and ICO. Despite the fact that I own the games already and have played them dozens of times, I’ll still buy the hell out of this re-release if Wallmart proves to be on the money.

The Last Guardian is an upcoming game that is getting a lot of people very excited for its release.
The previous titles from developer Team ICO really hit a special spot for a lot of gamers and have proven that they can bring a different angle to videogaming experiences. Some new screenshots have been released for the game and are pretty much just high resolutions screens taken from the trailer that you have already seen, but still worth a good look.

Team Ico, the developers behind the massively anticipated The Last Guardian on PS3 have been speaking at the DICE summit in Asia about growing their market and expanding out of Japan.
The previous 2 Ico games did incredibly well in Japan but that was in the day when the Japanese market was 1/3 of the entire gaming market and games were cheap to make. Now games cost a fortune and the Japanese market is only 1/5 of the entire market so Team Ico know that they need to expand.
And to expand they need to westernise or die.
Team ICO's new title has been heavily anticipated for quite a long while now, and even though their previous title Shadow of the Colossus did not sell that well, it is regarded as one of the greatest games to ever grace the Playstation 2.
Their new game, titled Project Trico is being developed and we are lucky enough to have video of the first ever footage of the game, and it's looking pretty incredible already. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who has been looking forward to this new game, so check out the video for yourself.
It does need to be said that this is apparently very early code, so everything from the graphics to the main characters may apparently change by the time this game sees a shelf.
Check the new footage out in the video, after the jump.
