EA is excited about Ignite, comparing it to Frostbite. They may be going on and on about Human Intelligence and Living World, but what does it all mean? What it means, is that the innovation is going to come fast and hard for years to come.

It’s that time of the year again, you know, that time where Gavin is the only one in the office that knows what the hell Super Rugby 2013 is and makes fun of Geoff and Darryn’s lack of knowledge and interest in sport. It’s also SuperBru Rugby  time and WE WANT YOU!

So we’ve had some massive news to bring to you this week with the news that Rugby Challenge will also be getting a local release to go head to head in a battle to the death with Rugby World Cup… okay maybe that’s overselling it a bit but we need to spice things up sometimes.

Well today Rugby World Cup hit back with the news that they have now licenced the Irish Rugby Football Union in their game as well.

[Update] We've spoken to the alleged possible distributors and it looks like somebody jumped the gun, as no distribution deals have yet been signed. As of right now, no-one is bringing Rugby Challenge into the country. As soon as we get official confirmation of anything, we'll post it up.

It seems that after such a long drought, just one Rugby game isn’t quite enough. While we already knew that the officially SARU licenced Rugby World Cup would be hitting our shores, the fate of the other Rugby game, Rugby Challenge wasn’t so certain.

There’ve been drives on Facebook, Twitter and even here on Lazygamer.net to try and bring Rugby challenge to South Africa. Well, good news! We’ve received confirmation from a retailer that yes, Rugby Challenge will be coming to South Africa.

In case you weren’t aware, the upcoming Rugby World Cup 2011 video game from HB studios and publisher 505 games will feature full licenced use of the South African Rugby team and its constituent players – including names and likenesses. In case you were wondering why that other Rugby game isn’t going to feature licenced Springboks here’s your answer; HD Studios today announced it’s signed an exclusive partnership with SARU, the South African Rugby Union – making it so Rugby World Cup 2011 is the only game in which you’ll officially be able to don the green and gold outfit that’s dually capable of swelling the nation with pride and deflating it under the humility of defeat.Andy Marinos, the manager of the South African Rugby Union’s national teams had this to say of the deal  “We’re delighted to be a part of giving Springbok supporters the opportunity to win the Webb Ellis Cup over and over again. “HB Studios have gone to great lengths to make this game as authentic as possible allowing Springbok supporters to relive the excitement of the Rugby World Cup before, during and long after the Webb-Ellis.”Press release after the jump.

Hey Cricket fans. As far as sports games go, you’ve been a rather neglected bunch, with the heavyweights preferring to make more US-centric sports games like Madden and MLB. Oh, and games about 23 idiots running around on a field after a ball. Of course you’re not nearly as neglected as rugby fans, who haven’t seen a proper game in what seems like decades.

you’re lucky in that you’re about to get another one, courtesy of Codemasters and Trickstar Games a studio comprised of fellows behind the pretty good, but ultimately disappointing Ashes Cricket.
