Earlier this week, Darryn showed you a video of a dude dressed up as The Legend of Zelda’s Link - and his failed attempt at finding everlasting happiness. Obviously a fan of the games and several sandwiches short of a picnic, the man clad in the green tunic is on a quest to find his princess. We’ve contacted him and this is what we know:
He is Link Reynolds, and he’s a ... [»]
It’s time to enter yet another post-apocalyptic wasteland, teaming with antagonists that range from horribly mutated humans and creatures, to rifle-wielding bandits and oppressive, well-armed tyrants with an axe to grind against anyone who doesn’t see things their way.
But can id Software once again revolutionise the genre in which they made their name, or should Rage have had some counselling before release?Set at some undetermined point in the future, humanity ... [»]
Video game crushes, we’ve all had them at one point or another. Whether its the ladies swooning over Nathan Drake and Commander Shepard, or men going weak at the knees for 98% of any female character that is on a game cover, we know what its like to love something digital.
I myself have a restraining order barring me from being within ... [»]
PC gamers have grown accustomed to Consoles being the lead platform for games. For most developers it makes sense; consoles are where the money is. Unfortunately for PC gamers it often leaves their versions of the game inferior; buggy, unsuited to their more powerful hardware or saddled with controls and menus that don’t quite gel with the keyboard and mouse controls PC gamers swear by. It’s something we saw with id’s recently released Rage, which runs wonderfully on consoles but can be a broken mess on PC’s. id’s John ... [»]
Last week you told you of an insider who said that Doom 4 had been indefinitely postponed following the unexpectedly low critical acclaim of id’s long-in-development post-apocalyptic shooter Rage. According to said insider, the top brass at id Overlord Bethesda Softworks have developed "a serious lack of confidence in the project management at id," resulting in the project being shelved.
id says otherwise."Complete bollocks," says Bethesda’s Pete Hines.
"Re: Doom 4 rumour, games are done when they are done and ... [»]
id’s Rage is selling pretty well, making top ten lists all over the world. It’s to be expected; id is one of the most prolific game studios in the history - responsible for phenomena like Commander Keen, Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake. Unfortunately their post-apocalyptic shooter Rage hasn’t quite gotten the critical reception that was expected of it , not helped by the fact that the ... [»]
Enjoying id Softwares’ latest FPS title? Chances are, if you’re playing it on either PS3 or Xbox 360, its a graphical tour de force with nary a sign of any visual issues. And if you’re playing it on a PC, then you’re most likely shouting and screaming obscenities at your screen every time another graphical issue rears its ... [»]
John Carmack, that bloke known for creating insignificant little engines for unknown games such as, I dunno… Dooms, Quakes and now Rage has said to PC Gamer in a video interview that treating consoles as equals was a big mistake and that PCs will be priority from now on.
The major issue seems to be that when they started working on Rage 6 ... [»]
The worldwide review embargo for Rage must have just dropped because a crop of reviews just appeared all over the Internet.
Unfortunately we weren’t graced with an early review copy so we can’t tell you how good the game really is but from the early review ... [»]
Over this last weekend I was up at the Coca Cola dome in Northgate for South Africa’s, and more than likely, Africa’s premier gaming exhibition. Now it’s obviously no E3 or Gamescom but I think we should maybe do some research and see if rAge is the biggest ... [»]
South African Games are caught in a flurry of excitement at the moment, and that’s because the 9th annual rAge - South Africa’s premier computer, gaming and technology expo kicks off tomorrow. There’s a plenty to be excited about - as we’ve already told you. Five of you have ... [»]

Then you best get down to the rAge expo this year, because a host of South Africa’s most prolific and celebrated game developers will be hosting a series of talks and Q&A sessions ... [»]
There’s been much speculation that RAGE, the post apocalyptic shooter from the guys who brought you Doom and Quake would require a pretty large install on the PS3. Speculate no more, because id has confirmed that it’ll carry an 8Gb mandatory install. It’s not all bad though - because that install could make the PS3 version better than the Xbox 360’s.The reason for that is the data that’s ... [»]
In a week’s time, the biggest event on the South African gaming calendar kicks off. Yeah, that’s right - it’s just a week until this year’s rAge. Taking place, s per usual, under the embowed roof of the Coca-Cola Dome in Northgate Johannesburg, rage rAge brings together the most popular and ... [»]
Despite the fact that’s it’s gorgeous (well, as gorgeous as a bleak post-apocalyptic world can be) and that it runs at a buttery smooth 60 frames per second (on all platforms, I’ve found it very difficult to drum up much enthusiasm for id’s imminent id Tech 5 showcase RAGE. This TV advert for the game might’ve just changed that, thanks ... [»]
