| November NPD Hardware Stats – Surprise 3rd spot for Sony | Gavin Mannion - December 11th, 2009 | The much anticipated NPD sales figures are in and I am truly shocked at the hardware results. These figures include Black Friday where all the stories were about how amazingly well the PS3 sold and how it trounced the Xbox 360 in all areas so I was expecting the PS3 to be pushing the Wii hard this month and possibly become the top selling console for the month. However when all the excitement had died ... | Wii Fit Outsells Halo 3 | Geoffrey Tim - March 23rd, 2009 | Our recently posted February NPD sales figures showed that Wii Fit was still selling pretty gosh-darned well. How well exactly? 6 million units well, to be precise. As of February, sales of Nintendo’s balance-board exercise simulator have exceeded that of Microsoft’s genre-defining Xbox 360 shooter Halo 3.What makes this all the more impressive for Nintendo is that Wii Fit costs $30 more, and was unleashed on the casual gaming market a full 8 months after Xbox junkies had already finished the fight.Of course, ... | February NPD figures – Was Killzone 2 a System Seller? | Geoffrey Tim - March 21st, 2009 | NPD, the market research folks who track stateside console and software sales have released their figures for February – and it should come as no real surprise to anybody that Nintendo continues to dominate the charts. The waggle-machine with too many unnecessary peripherals sold an astounding 753,000 units in February, while its little handheld cousin sold a total of 588,000. With recent reports that South African lifetime sales of the DS has reached 20,000 units, it highlights just what a small market we are. On the software side, 644,00 people bought Wii Fit to accompany their new consoles. Street Fighter IV took second and third spots, with the 360 just outselling the PS3 version with 446,000 units to 403,000. That’s not why you’re reading this ... [»] |
