Diablo III: Reaper of Souls is almost upon us. But, contrary to Darryn's insistence, playing with others can be way more fun than playing with yourself. Megarom is teaming up with Internet Solutions to let a bunch of locals get together for some dungeon raiding.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is out, and maybe in the next gen or end of year game rush you’ve been umming and erring about whether to plonk down the cash. Thanks to our friends at Activision and Megarom, we’re giving you the opportunity to experience that realistic fish AI, establish an emotional connection with a virtual dog, fire guns in space and get sworn at online by 12 year olds. Oh, and listen to a whole lot of some angry white dude. For free!
Ah, it seems like just yesterday that COD: Ghosts was announced, and now its launch is upon us. Megarom has put together an awesome competition for you, and there is even going to be a launch party.
Steel Series has shown its commitment to South African eSports for a while now, particularly by sponsoring our local teams. Now, they've upped the game!
In case you missed the big news of last week, Dendi (Dota 2 All-Star) is coming to South Africa. All you Dota 2 fans are bursting with questions, and you can get them answered! In fact, you can even play against him!
There are some rather disquieting rumours that Grand Theft auto V will be delayed locally – particularly for those who’ve ordered a copy through some of our Cape-town based retailers. We’ve been trying to contact just about everybody involved. Here’s the deal.
If you haven’t already pre-ordered Grand Theft Auto V, arguably this year’s biggest game, expect to pay a little more for it. The local price of the latest iteration of the infamous murder simulator is set to increase, because our currency is in the toilet, according to the chaps at MyGaming.
The awesome guys from Megarom and Microsoft hosted us in Bryanston last night for an awesome night of drinks, food and games. We got some hands on time with the Splinter Cell: Blacklist code, and I drank plenty of girly boozy drinks.

March has come and gone, and it’s time again for the random draw on the Lazygamer.net Superbru rugby prediction pool. One super bru has won himself a free copy of BioShock: Infinite on the platform of his choice.
It’s out today; one of the best games of the year, and quite possibly ever. I’m sitting here, waiting (still) for my BioShock Infinite pre-order to arrive, while I’m sure many of you are sitting with copies on your desks, watching the minutes tick by like hours. If perchance, you don’t have the game (or even if you do!), we’ve got a pretty special bunch of Bioshock Infinite prizes up for grabs.
Last weekend was probably one of the most important weekends for eSports in South Africa; we had the incredible StarCraft 2 Invitational play out, the South African ESL Qualifiers and our Battlefield 3 team play another match in the Nations Cup. The highlight of this article though, is the fantastic victory by Team XtaZ, securing their spot in the Call of Duty Championships in Los Angeles this April.
Megarom, Internet Solutions, AMD and the MSSA brought us an event that has set new standards for live video game tournaments in South Africa. LAN gaming will never be seen in the same way again and I’m happy to have been a part of such a significant turning point for our community.
The highlight of the StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm Invitational was undoubtedly and unmistakably the test match between South Africa and Romania. Robert “PandaTank” Botha and Silvui “nightEND” Lazar battled it out in two matches in front of a packed 500 seater auditorium accompanied by energetic and entertaining commentary.
Did you miss it on Friday? Completely out of nowhere came an opportunity to win a full paid trip to Los Angeles to attend the Call of Duty Championship where the best gamers from across the world will be competing for a $1 million prize pot.
Call of Duty is arguably the world’s most popular shooter; the billions of dollars it generates in sales every year is testament to that. The series hasn’t really had much impact in the eSports scene, but that’s changing, with the recently announced Million Dollar Call of Duty tournament hosted by Activision and Xbox in Los Angeles this April. And one lucky South African Call of Duty fan will be going there, to see it all go down.
