Natal, says Microsoft, is about more than just gaming. Marc Whitten, Xbox 360’s general manager has said that Natal has been created to enhance the living room experience just as much as it was for gaming. He said the device will replace the host of buttons and remotes – and at some point may even react to users reactions when watching things like televised sports. Natal will learn things, get ... [»]
I was tipped off about this incredibly interesting TED talk from a game designer that looks at using the amount of hours spent gaming to solve real world problems. The idea is that gaming can be used to take real world issues and portray them in an epic environment, thereby motivating gamers to ... [»]
From the helpless damsel in distress to the typical gangbanger – gaming has always had stereotypes in place. So let’s take a look at some of the more popular examples shall we?Stereotypes in RPGsAnd what better place to start at than the titular (hehe) hero? Cloud Strife and Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia are but ... [»]
Today, for those of you unaware – presumably because you’ve spent the last 2 weeks playing Modern Warfare 2 untill the wee hours of the morning, and have lost all perceptions of reality – is the 1st of December. This is generally considered to be the beginning of the Silly Season. The Silly Season brings with it a host of positives and negatives; Every Shopping centre in the country is, and will be a congested, ... So I think Lazygamer has had a total of 4 articles on different movie companies joining the gaming world now. We have Jerry Bruckheimer, Steven Spielberg, Legendary Pictures and now apparently Ubisoft wants to break into the special effects business. Crazy right? Looks like gaming has now become the flavour of the month! Are you puzzled as to why?Why would all these Hollywood big shots now veer away ... [»]
When I read this article I shuddered. Was my precious console now finally facing the firing squad? According to Palo Alto-based OnLive, it was. Unluckily for our console counterparts OnLive isn’t merely all talk either. Apparently it’s been dropping jaws of the press who've seen it working this week at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco. GameDaily dubbed the play "fantastic" after seeing Crysis streamed "smooth" off a server to a plain ol' MacBook laptop. Crysis? Consoles…thee end might be nigh.See, OnLive claims ... [»]
So at least there are some joys when writing analytical pieces like these. Mostly things like getting to brag when games like the following 4 roll on to my doorstep. And the following are a smoking slice of proof, that 3 is in fact not the lucky number…it’s been 4 all along. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare I decided to move on to something that I could actually be happy to write about and that is Call of Duty. For me, I’ve had a deep love for the Call of Duty series for a long, long time. However, I share the same love for the Medal of Honour series. I’m sorry. I just love blowing away Nazi's with my M1 Garand, then hearing that click as the cartridge is empty and the metal pin pops out. Love it! And then, along came Modern ... [»]
I have been called many things in my life. Animal! Murderer! Sadist! KILLER! And yes, I am all of these things and so much more. I have killed thousands of people and taken down the headquarters of countless enemy regimes, all on a daily basis. However, I do all of these things for the good of man. My weapon of choice? 14 buttons, 2 rubber analogue sticks, and a deadly ... [»]
I haven’t been paying much attention to this OnLive service that was announced at GDC to be honest, quite simply because it has absolutely no way of working for us anytime soon. Without even going into the technical details of the system which to be honest, sound like absolute BS to me, there are some fundamental issues that will never ... [»]
Recently I have been seeing quite a lot of iPhone and iPod Touch gaming adverts on the TV and was starting to think that maybe Apple entered the console race without many of us noticing. Well they have just announced that they have sold an incredible 30 million iPod Touch and iPhones which leapfrogs them straight past the Xbox 360 and places them firmly as a real contender in the gaming market. I personally have ... [»]

In the past few days there have been a lot of articles talking about who has been making the most money and which games has sold the most. The fact is that whichever company ends up with the biggest pot of cash wins, those are the simple rules of running a corporate empire. However to us as gamers the most important thing is which platform gives us the best gaming experience. Now we could be logical and say that this is more a matter of personal taste than anything but then this article would end here and I need to stick in another 100 words.. So with that logic shoved nicely out of mind we get down to the finer details of finger pointing. When judging the quality of games we don't ... [»]
I don’t what it is but this game has just stuck in my head, the last time I played real Monopoly must have been way over 10 years ago and that ended terribly. Monopoly has always been that game that can destroy families and drive people over the edge and I wonder how that is going to transfer over to a video game format. Monopoly is coming to all the consoles and, strangely enough, also to the iPod.
