EVO Online saw accusations against its co-founder and now former CEO, Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar, revelations so damaging that multiple game publishers and developers decided to withdraw their games from the event so that they wouldn’t be tarnished by the accusations currently being thrown at Cuellar.
An EVO without a Nintendo presence feels somewhat…odd. There’s a good reason for it though, because while Super Smash Bros. may be a great game to play in a tournament settings with both challengers seated next to each other, online is a different story entirely.
The Wrestlemania of fighting games kicks off on July 31, as EVO 2020 has just announced which eight games will make the cut and see players battle it out for a massive pot of cash.
