The benefits of DirectX 12 are already apparent. As an API that allows developers closer access to hardware, it will allow them to get the most out of your graphics hardware, and give you better-looking games. Unfortunately – for some – the API is tied in to Windows 10, and those who’re still stuck in the past with Windows 7 might be unwilling to make that upgrade. Frostbite’s technical director really, really hopes you’ll upgrade. In fact, he’d like it so that it was mandatory for all 2016 games.
