The Crew 2 may have had hundreds of hands guiding its development, but not all of them belonged to Ubisoft. In fact, a lot of its design is the end result of thousands of fans adding their input to the upcoming caRPG.
For The Crew 2, it’s about more than just looking good on the streets. It’s about finding genuine moments of shock and awe when you’re racing or exploring.
I’m an unabashed fan of driving games that don’t require me to manually change gears or stick to a certain line on any given track. OnRush looks set to scratch that itch then. Codemaster’s big hook in addition to wilder gameplay though? Tracks which start a race with players already in a drive for their life.
The best way obviously employs the combination use of your grappling hook, parachute and wingsuit. But there’s also plenty of vehicles to strap yourself into as well, from bikes to cars, choppers and jets. To get your hands on them, you’re going to need to find and unlock said vehicles for your rebel drops. Here’s a handy list then, for most of them.
Watching riders slide around like a whale with an eating disorder on narrow tracks, or set a time trial record in open arenas makes from some gripping viewing. And that’s the kind of game that MX vs. ATV Supercross Encore wants to be. Only, it really isn’t.
Much, much better and actually quite superb now that it isn’t broken. But it’s still lacking something. And by something, I mean two-wheeled pocket rockets. Outside of the bare-bones riding experience found in MotoGP games, motorcycles are woefully underrepresented in racing games lately. But that might be changing soon.
There’s nothing like throwing your sizable weight over a plastic replica of a motorcycle, and coming perilously close to dipping your face in the diseased linoleum of an arcade floor. Now that’s racing! And it looks like MotoGP is headed back to those halls, with a completely new pair of pocket rockets to saddle up on.
