Last Guardian at E3 “on very good authority”

Last guardian

Oh Last Guardian. Do we still even need to talk about these rumours? The game has been in development hell for 8 years now, but maybe it’s finally the time to hear something from Team Ico. At least, that’s what one publication has reason to believe.

The Guardian has published their list of most anticipated games to be shown at E3 2015. In it, they included Last Guardian with the following blurb:

Yes, we know it has been in development hell since 2007, but we have it on very good authority that this will be the year that Team Ico finally presents its follow-up to much loved classics Ico and Shadow of the Colossus. Whether it’ll bear any relation to the game last shown at E3 in 2009 is anyone’s guess.

I am taking this rumour extremely lightly. We’ve been hearing that Last Guardian is still in development, but I refuse to get excited, even if a “very good authority” says we’ll be seeing it next week. Also, even if we do see something, I don’t think we should expect it to look anything like the game we last saw all those years ago. Rumour suggests Mark Cerny’s Knack team is on the job to help finish the game. Hmmm.

The PS4 offers a ton more power than the PS3, making games that were otherwise impossible (read: in development hell) possible. I’d love for this rumour to be true, particularly to make E3 worthwhile to our very own Umar, but I wouldn’t rest any degree of hopes or dreams on it. Still, this could make the Sony press conference explode, and not just from the ridiculous amount of food that hungry journalists can eat.

My guess is its dead. They will probably reveal something else but the way gamers have voted with their wallets since the introverted games of ICO and Shadows of the Colossus for more quick, casual, brainless, on-line experiences by the billions…

To my disappointment The Lat Guardian has dated.

people just dont have the time to sit and immerse themselves anymore. Everybody’s shuffling, and considering a modern phone costs twice as much as a console, the laymen will not invest in domestic gaming as much as they used to. Mobile games are the future. Sad but true 🙁

Uwe Boll was going to direct the movie adaptation, until his crowdfunding failed.
